8 for yusufnicolo 💞
8 - interrupting with a kiss
Nicolò is pulled from his book by the feeling of Yusuf’s lips against his shoulder. Even through the fabric of his tee shirt, the touch causes a shiver to run down his spine.
Granted it is very threadbare tee shirt- but it’s a very nice tee shirt, just the right amount of softness thank you very much. (Also Yusuf had bought it for him at their first Queen concert back in the seventies and it held particularly fond memories.)
“I’ve pulled you from your book only to lose you to your thoughts,” Yusuf muses, pressing another kiss to Nicolò’s shoulder before shifting so he can trail feather-light kisses along the line of Nicolò’s shoulder to his neck.
Nicolò hums softly, reaching over to grab his bookmark- currently a napkin that Yusuf had doodled several hearts (the anatomical kind, he’s been practicing) on during their particularly boring stakeout the previous afternoon- “Have you been awake long?”
Yusuf chuckles into his shoulder, his breath hot against Nicolò’s skin, “Not very long, what has you in your thoughts?”
“You,” Nicolò replies simply, closing his now bookmarked book and setting it aside on the nightstand.
“Me?” It’s said as a question, but Nicolò can hear the gentle tease in Yusuf’s tone.
Book now safely put away, Nicolò turns his full attention to Yusuf, who has moved to resting his chin on Nicolò’s shoulder and staring up at him with those beautiful brown eyes that Nicolò had become so enchanted with all those centuries ago, when they locked eyes for the very first time and Nicolò had known, deep in his heart that this man was going to be the death of him. (If only he had known, all that time ago, that Yusuf would come to be his very life- it certainly would’ve saved them both from several unpleasant deaths.)
“You,” he repeats, gently cupping Yusuf’s cheek with the hand not pinned to his side, “always you, my life.”

A tale that becomes folklore is one that is passed down and whispered around. Sometimes even sung about. The lines between fantasy and reality blur and the boundaries between truth and fiction becomes almost indiscernible. Speculation, over time, becomes fact. Myths, ghost stories, and fables. Fairytales and parables. Gossip and legend. Someone’s secrets written in the sky for all to behold.
