REYLO WEEK 2020 → Day Four: AU: Canon Divergence / Fusion or Crossover / Modern
The Age of Adaline AU - where Regina “Rey” Johnson, after a car accident and a miracle in the form of a bolt of lightning, loses the ability to age.
Years passed, but her appearance never changed, and she was unable to understand or find any answers to her condition. Finn, her best friend and foster brother being the only one who knew and whom she trusted with her secret. The secret that forced her into a life of constant loss and loneliness.
The fear of being found forced her to always be on the run, taking up new names as she went, only staying in places for a certain amount of time. She’d promised herself, that she whe’d never tell anyone her real name again - it was a huge risk she wasn’t willing to take - and she had kept it for many years. Until she met two people, who ended up changing her life. She’d met her neighbor, law major Leia Organa, who attended the same college, where she had recieved a job as a librarian. Their friendship quickly blossomed and it was the first time she ever questioned herself. The first time she allowed herself to stay in one place, longer than she should have. Leia grew quite fond of astrophysics professor Han Solo, and Rey used her connections to introduce the two to each other, and helping them to find a way to make their relationship work. Time flew by fast, and she watched their relationship grow, was there for them when they got married, had almost completely forgetting about her circumstances. But the day Han and Leia had informed her they were going to have a baby, when they had asked her to be the godmother of their child, had caused her She knew she couldn’t stay, so she’d been forced to run again, knowing that staying any longer would only bring all of them pain.
Rey spent the next thirty years in different locations again, never allowing herself to grow attached to anyone again. She leaned on Finn, spending every moment with him that she could, after he ended up moving to the states as well, along with his partner. He was now growing old, and Rey knew their time together was limited
She’s been intent on spending the rest of her life alone, until one fateful night. A man she had met at a party on New Year’s Eve, with a smile that breathed life into her again, had completely torn her walls down, giving her a sense of safety, she never allowed her heart to feel.
And finally after, what almost seemed like a lifetime, she was brave enough to stay.
A lil side note is that i planned to add a more detailed version, but i had to put that aside, because the writing process would have made this impossible to post this week, but with the help of @itsreysolo, together we could make a brief plot to this AU. Several parts are in parallel with the movie, mostly the ending. Also noting that Rey loses her parents at the age of 11, when she gets taken into the care of Maz, who was already raising an orphan boy Finn, who was 6 years younger than her. And if you haven’t seen the movie, please watch it, it’s a masterpiece.
