Reylo Week 2020 → Day III: Reincarnation / Destiny / Soulmates
22 ABY: Seventeen year old Ben trains to become a Jedi like his uncle. He’s been having dreams of a dirty and feisty young girl since he started puberty. Fighting. Struggling. Crying to sleep. She’s not a relative of his, but he feels like she’s a very important person in his life. Maybe the daughter he’ll have someday?
And then he starts seeing her randomly. She does nothing, just stands there for a split second and then disappears. He wants to talk to her, hug her, ask if she’s alright, but it’s always too late. He starts wondering if he’s really having visions or his mind is playing tricks on him.
But Ben has a gut feeling he and this girl will meet in real life someday.
Reylo Week 2020 → Day 3: Reincarnation
She remembers before he does.
In their next life, they’re neighbors, though they don’t interact much other than occasionally passing each other in the lobby or yelling to hold the elevator! But one day, Rey passes by Ben as he talks on his phone. She hears him say, “Bye, Mom,” and sees him smile — small and almost reluctant, but full of affection nonetheless.
Rey suddenly feels a bit like she’s walked headfirst into a wall.
I know that smile, she thinks dazedly, later when she’s alone in her apartment. She can’t explain it, it sounds absolutely bonkers, but somehow she knows that her quiet, polite neighbor has dimples and slightly crooked teeth and that his eyes crinkle at the corners when he’s really, really happy. And then she realizes: I know him.

The Star Wars saga is like a symphony, which has recurring themes. You have one theme orchestrated in a particular way and place, which then comes back orchestrated as a minor theme somewhere else. There are these little threads running through things that are constantly turning events on their head. You see two people confronting the same things, with different ends. It's a rhythm. I like the idea of seeing something from different perspectives. [...] So this isn't just a tune - it's a symphony. When you do it as a symphony, I think, it actually becomes beautiful. - George Lucas
