Let’s be honest- swimmers trying to communicate during practice are like those dolphins from Nemo
Morning practice: knock knock bitch time to face the day it's 4:30 up and at em
Morning practice: No shower sorry no time
Morning practice: You're hungry? That sucks, you can only eat a granola bar or your stomach will rebel against you.
THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING! okay so what advice do you have and how do I start on this journey I want to pursue? What programs should I look for?
It’s seriously no problem; I get so excited when people come and talk to me because it means I’m making connections. Ok, the easiest way to find a swim club to swim at is to look for pools in your area. Anywhere that you feel comfortable driving to, so depending on who you are 5-30ish minutes away. Where there is a pool, there will be some sort of club, whether it be a small summer league program or a year round club team. Teams will have a time for you to try out, and based on performance they will place you with a group that is the best fit for you. If you are just starting to swim competitively, I would recommend starting in a summer league program, as those tend to provide a good introduction to how to race, and what a typical swim meet will look like. My advice: keep a positive attitude. No matter what happens in a practice, keeping a smile on your face and encouraging the people around you always makes the time seems to fly by.
Hi! I just wanted to ask, is it too late for me to start swimming? I wanna swim competitively and I mean I know obviously I won't be good to compete at the level of others but I really want to. Is it too late? Should I?
YOU TOTALLY SHOULD. It's never too late to start swimming competitively, no matter how old you are. The fun of the sport doesn't come from how fast you are; it comes from the friends you make along the way, the way you feel after you leave it all in the pool, the adrenaline rush you get before a race. Swimming is something you can do for life, competitively or non-competitively. It's also one of the best experiences you will ever have. GO DO IT!!!!!!!
You: 100 breast
Me, an intellectual: a perfect balance of underwaters and strange movements on the surface of the water
You: 100 fly
Me, an intellectual: sprinting to sore abs + a feeling of inevitable doom
You: 500 free
Me, an intellectual: too long to sprint, to short to pace, a glimpse into the gaping maw of death by stomach pain
