Having A Voice.

It is so sad and disheartening that nobody had a voice before the election, transgenders were able to share a bathroom with whom they identify with, the black lives matter movement, and marijuana was legalized. Where were you when a person at school was getting bullied? When a friend/family member asked you for help? When you witnessed someone hurting? Or how about when it was time to vote? I personally don’t like either candidate. I think Trump could seriously learn to think about what he is going to say before he says it and that he's a arrogant jerk 80% of the time. I also think that Clinton is a pathological liar, con artist, murderer, and a disgusting person for the things she has done. But this article is not about me or my personal opinions about the election or candidates. There is a reason why people always say don't talk about politics or religion. When you talk about things that are so controversial, emotional, and personal people start to get defensive and cruel. Since the election I have seen so many people on social media go from friends to enemies, loving to hateful, and down right horrible to be honest. You had your big chance to voice your opinion and that was the day you voted. Yes, we as American people have freedom of speech but no where does it say you can take it to extremes and tear people down for having a different opinion then you. Everyone is entitled to an opinion of their own and to feel safe having that opinion. Not everyone believes in the same things or sees things in the same way. I am not saying in any way that I am perfect and have always been nice and considerate of other peoples feelings or opinions. To be honest I know I get very defensive and cruel when someone challenges my beliefs. What I have seen the last couple of days though with the way people are treating others is horrible. You standing up and saying someone else is an idiot, pathetic, or anything else rude because someone has a different opinion does not make it any less real that Trump is our new president, California voted to legalize marijuana, Transgenders can use whatever bathroom they identify themselves as, and the Black Lives Matter Movement began. If everyone put more effort into being kind to one another and came together as American people of all religions, races, backgrounds, and political parties we could live the “American Dream” together united.
