i have yet to understand why /that/ part of the fandom has decided that the north will crash and burn under sansa’s rule. their main argument is that the northerners will not survive the harsh winter since westeros is in shambles but that’s all post-canon speculation. considering d&d didn’t care about lore and didn’t care about the magic aspect of game of thrones, we have no idea what actually happened after the night king was killed. he could’ve been the cause for the long winters, for all we know. it’s not even fair to say that they for sure will all die of hunger because while winterfell was in a really bad place after the long night (and so was king’s landing after it was burned down), the war(s) didn’t touch every single land/hold and sansa doesn’t really have enemies anymore. she’s an incredible diplomat that knows how to play the game — i’m sure finding someone to help out wouldn’t be hard for her. not only that, she is also the sister of another king who will never undermine her independence. i don’t really see any reason for the north to not thrive under sansa’s rule.
Now there’s nothing that says that there has to be an endgame romance for Kara Danvers on Supergirl (especially given that in many ways the bond between and Alex is the heart of the show), but generally when the main character is with someone by the end of a series, it’s with someone who has been on the show for a long time. With that said, among the current main cast, Lena is the only option that makes sense.
Let’s take a look at the choices and why the other partners are unlikely:
James Olsen: This relationship was clearly intended to be the endgame relationship way back in season 1, but for whatever reason, the showrunners didn’t feel like the chemistry was good enough between them so even if James wasn’t leaving the show as a regular, it would be very unlikely the show would want to try them as a couple again (ironically, I think Kara and James were better as a couple than either Kara and Mon-El or James and Lena).
Alex Danvers: Honestly if the show had introduced Alex as Kara’s bad-ass DEO agent foster brother, I bet this would have played out very similar to how Barry and Iris did on The Flash. It would feel out of place to bring romantic feelings into Kara and Alex’s relationship this late in the show though. If they had been wanting to go this route, they would have used Alex’s mindwipe last season to re-examine their feelings for one another.
J’onn J’onnz: The show has very clearly established that J’onn sees Kara as a daughter and Kara looks to his as a parental figure. No way the show goes with this pairing.
Brainy and Nia Nal: I’m grouping these two together because these two are so cute together and their relationship is pretty much universally loved by the fandom. So even though Nia and Kara are close and Brainy is a traditional romantic partner for Kara in the comics, I don’t think there’s anyway the show would break these two up (short of one of the actors deciding to leave the show, at least).
Kelly Olsen: From pretty much her first moment on screen, Kelly has been telegraphed as a love interest for Alex and now that the two are together, it seems highly unlikely that they would have her go from dating Alex to dating Kara.
Eve Tessmacher: It seems like Eve was only working with Lex under duress from Leviathan, but she still did a lot of pretty horrific things so barring an incredibly compelling reason why she had to do those things, it seems unlikely that Eve will ever regain Kara’s friendship, let alone building it into something more.
So, once you have ruled out every possibility (barring new or returning characters, at least), that only leaves you with the obvious answer:
Lena Luthor: Sure, there is a rift between Kara and Lena now that will have to be repaired, but that’s practically a staple of Arrowverse endgame partners for the lead hero (Oliver and Felicity being the most obvious example, but Barry/Iris and Sara/Ava have had their difficulties too). The bigger obstacle is that the show hasn’t canonically established Kara or Lena having romantic interest in women up to this point (no matter the chemistry between them). Still, I really hope we do see the show take this option (even if they go the they share their first kiss in the final route of the series route that some shows go when they seem scared to commit to a wlw relationship for out of universe reasons).

Last paragraph is good logic!
There’s a reason my blog is titled “all you can do is the best you can do” because it’s true. You can’t do any better than your best. You can’t be other than you are and you can’t do other than your abilities, really, so.
You get to a point where there’s just no more point to angsting about it.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t still angst about it, but it’s pointless. Which is a grim consolation, but a consolation.
