Summer is over…the kiddos are back to school…but you still need to worry about the heat when exercising. . Just because summer is over doesn’t mean we have beautiful fall weather yet (and yes I know some parts of the U.S. and the world are all heat all the time ;) ) . Here are a few things to keep in mind. . Sunscreen: Still working on this habit ( don’t worry, I am too). Here is a quick way to always remember to apply it before heading outside. Leave a bottle by the door, so when you head outside it’s right there and have a bottle to take with you if you plan on being in the sun for a while. . Water: Be sure to always carry water with you. Being dehydrated can lead to exhaustion as well as impaired performance. The average person typically loses around 84.5 ounces of fluid per day and that doesn’t account for exercise or being in the heat. So the best way to combat dehydration when out in the heat is to drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes or so. . Lastly, Attire: Be sure to dress appropriately for the heat. Light colored and lightweight clothing are ideal. Stay away from dark colors because they tend to attract the sun. . Information changes the world. The more we know. The better choices we can make. .
