I'm looking for general offerings for Athena. I looked on theoi but didn't find much, and I may be looking incorrectly. Any ideas? I'll ask the people just referenced in the Apollo ask if not.
First, here's a basic Hellenic offering ritual. Generally speaking in a Hellenic practice, making an honest effort to do something or give something you think They’ll like is more important than what you actually offer. For a basic offering, milk and honey are commonly used.
so I've got this toad friend that comes by every night and it likes being pet behind the eyes, like a cat. it's also huge, should I keep it? it's taken to the name Franz.
how did i miss this. you can totally keep him imo, although they hibernate in winter usually. some people think taking animals from the wild for pets is not a good idea, and they're probably right, but most toads are incredibly common. having one in a tank being fed fat pet store crickets for a few weeks or months is probably not going to do antyhing to that toad other than give him a head start when and if he is returned to his region
i started when i was 6 and took a long break for my awkward pubescence and got back in around age 16. recently i took another couple-year break while i aged out of my baby fat face, redistributed some body fat and lost a lot more, and got over my general burnout with the industry. i got back in a few weeks ago and have been much more successful than i ever was before, which i attribute to looking a lot better without fat cheeks. even my nose is thinner and more defined than it was even five years ago. the price of all this facial fat loss has been pretty astounding eyebags but what can you do.*
there are a lot of different types of modeling so it depends on what you look like and what you’re comfortable with but in general if you want to model commercially you will probably need decent facial symmetry, below average body mass (unless you’re going for the plus niche, which isn’t actually “plus size” because we live in hell world, but is when average sized women with absolutely exquisite faces and above average height model “fat clothes”), excellent awareness of your face and body, to the extent that you can adjust both of them by the millimeter on demand even when you’re uncomfortable, cold, tired, hungry, bored and dehydrated, and a pragmatic approach to the entire concept of “looking good” or “being beautiful” because that’s not a model’s job. it can be part of her job, but mostly your job is to show up and do what you’re told (without going over your limits, it’s really important to police your limits because a lot of photographers are scum), wear what you’re told, don’t complain about shit that doesn’t matter like having your hair pulled by your hairstyle, or being poked by underwires, or wardrobe not fittng perfectly, and make it look like you’re doing it well even if you’re not. this is sort of amorphous, i know.
to work anything other than “alternative” runway (conventions, etc), you need to be taller than 5’7” for womenswear and i believe over 5’10” for menswear. there are exceptions but they are extremely rare.
in general, “alternative modeling” like we see in Gothic Beauty and in lovely themed photoshoots on DeviantArt usually doesn’t pay anyone anything. it’s just for fun. technically these big themed shoots are called “editorials” and the fact that Undertow was paid is more a symptom of Ransom & Mitchell (Purebred Productions) being incredibly professional and cool than of a general trend in the industry.
nude/art modeling pays pretty well but bookings are spotty and of course reliant upon your comfort levels. once you take your clothes off the rest of your body is included in the equation of whether or not you look right, or “good enough”, for the job. breast symmetry, muscle tone, lack of large tattoos, birthmarks, and scars are all factored in to most casting calls for nude models. industry rate for nude modeling is $100/hr, however. so if you’re comfortable doing playboy type stuff like MetArt.com i hear you can make a decent amount of money.
i’ve never been a pro. i’m too short and my eyes are too close together to compete in the runway/high fashion market. that said, i have a Look, i’m versatile, i’m extremely comfortable in front of a camera, i’m skinny, i’m not too short, and i have a small head so i look much taller than i am. i also look vaguely “”“”exotic”“”” while still being super pale. all this means i have qualities most other models dont, which means i have a decent chance of booking jobs that i know are within my grasp and which models who are more heavily tattooed, shorter, larger, or less versatile are also trying to get. another big reason i’m booked is that a lot of models seem to go out of their way to fulfill the “airhead model” stereotype with shitty, poorly-spelled emails, lack of followup, inability to follow simple instructions in casting calls (like, to email the poster instead of leaving a comment on the post) etc. this stuff makes a huge, huge difference in a field where there is so much competition, particularly from amateurs.
all that said, you dont have to be pretty or young or skinny or tall to be a model and a lot of the best models aren’t any of these things. the number one requirement is being a good puppeteer of your own face and body, knowing your niche and your comfort zone within it, and working well with the team who is using you as their photo subject, whether it’s a motorcycle catalog or a runway show.
*i can get a blepharoplasty or cheek implants or fillers, which i have been considering and might go for if i end up leaning heavily on modeling to pay bills

CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION FOR A WEEK THEN GET THE MISSED SPOTS. TRY TO AVOID THE SKIN OR YOUR HAIR WILL FALL OUT. my friend is a dye master and told me these true facts.
OKAY. I condition my hair every day anyway because otherwise it'd be like frickin straw.
Ask your dye master friend if there's anyway I could store this dye to save it for later because I don't want to have to buy a new kit?
