“Uta, I'm pregnant.” You said to him suddenly one day. You didn't know how to tell him. You didn't know the right time to say it. The thoughts echoed again and again inside your head. It was bothering you not to tell him. You were going to, but you didn't know how.
He had been upstairs painting when you approached him and said the words. Uta remained emotionless. You didn't expect him to react. He never did show emotions. However, he didn't say anything or even seem to acknowledge you in any way. Which wasn't like him, or maybe it was, and you were overreacting. You looked at Uta with a worried glance, and you stepped closer to him. He applied a final marking to his painting before setting it aside and wrapping his arms around you and holding you close. You didn’t know if you wanted to smile. You couldn't tell if Yta was happy or not. Your heart pounded in your chest. You had no doubt that Uta could hear and maybe even feel the hammering in your body. You looked away. You didn't notice how ever so slightly the corner of Uta's lip lifted into a smile. It was short and quick, leaving as fast as it had appeared. Uta looked at you and gently took your head and made you look at him.
“Really?” He asked with the same curious and interested-sounding tone that he always had when you showed him new things. You knew his curiosity was legit. There was also a hint of another tone that you had only heard a handful of times. Excitement. He was happy to be having a little him. He was also curious: Was it like the kitten you brought him home one day as a surprise? He didn't know the first thing about raising a child. He was afraid he might mess up. His heart fluttered in his chest. He didn't know what to do.

The first time you met Tsukiyama was when you bumped into each other at the grocery store in the coffee isle. You accidentally dropped what you were holding, “Watch where you’re going, dude.” you immediately growl, before looking up at him. Before you even finish your sentence, he’s already picked it up for you and is apologizing. You tone down your anger, caught off guard by what a gentleman he is.
“I noticed we like the same brand of coffee, maybe we can get a cup together sometime. I know a place around here that makes the best coffee.” While you don’t usually like to go out, how can you deny someone as charming as him. You accept his invitation, slightly hesitant but you can’t say no since you’ve been put on the spot.
🖤After dating:
Tsukiyama loves your bluntness, he’s similar at times even though he’s infinitely more dramatic than you. He drags you into public because he enjoys watching you in social settings, thriving on how much you hate them. Every time you snap at strangers, he’s right behind you apologizing for your behavior even though he secretly loves it.
It was a surprise to you when Tsukiyama accepted you for who you were, with no issues. He’s okay with you wanting to stay inside most of the time because it means you’re out of harms way and he can expect you to be safe most of the time. He’s extremely possessive of you, so these two things go together hand in hand.
Uta:

You met Uta in a bookstore, where you were looking for the latest release of your favorite manga. He was hunched over in the same section, perhaps looking for the same thing. “You’re in my way and I’m in a hurry.” You blurt without thinking, when he looks up at you with his piercing red eyes. “Oh, was it this you’re looking for?” He waves the last copy of the book in your face. “We’ll I’ll be on my way.”
As he heads to the check out, you’re fuming and pull him back by his arm. “I NEED that.” He’s clearly enjoying this interaction, not even attempting to hide his ever-growing smirk. His response makes your heart skip a beat: “If you need it so bad, come find me tomorrow, same place and you can have it for free.” You didn’t want to wait a whole day, but you had no other option this was the only bookstore in your city that carried this manga. Plus, he’s pretty cute. You show up the next day and as promised, he gives it to you.
🖤After dating:
Uta takes interest in your personality, it’s different than what he’s used to. He loves your bluntness because it contrasts his mysterious demeanor. He takes you out from time to time, observing your interactions with strangers. He finds it hilarious when you make snide comments at unsuspecting people. He never questions it though because he understands how you feel about the general public.
He doesn’t like to go out much either, so you both tend to stay inside together. He likes to stay under the radar, being a ghoul puts him in a compromising situation most of the time. He gives you your space, and you give him his. You have a mutual understanding of each others needs and both respect it.

Uta knew you were pregnant before you even did. He could smell it, there was a new scent to you. You had smelt even more appetizing than before, but he wouldn’t be the one to tell you. No, he would wait for you to find out on your own… until one day you noticed how he looked at you, you’ve been able to catch this particular gaze quite a bit lately. So you would finally ask him “What is it, Uta?”
Uta has conflicted feelings at first when it comes to you being preggo.
He loves the fact that he was able to create a life with you, specifically due to the fact he never thought he would be able to with you.
At the same time the thought of his human s/o other being pregnant with his child horrifies him…
He knows there can be issues and he knows one of you may not make it, which is exactly why in the beginning he tried to convince you to get rid of it after he told you about it. As much as he wanted to be the father of your child, it wasn’t worth losing you.
You had calmed him down though by placing your hand on his cheek “Don’t worry my dear Uta. We will find a way to make this work.” You had calmed him, and in that moment he put all his trust in you. It was your body, and he should trust your judgement. So he did.
Uta had always been protective over you… you were HIS after all, but now that you are carrying around his child he follows you wherever you go, and if he runs somewhere he makes sure to call in Renji to stay with you.
And if you really wish to leave without him he makes sure you take a ghoul he trusts, specifically Itori or Renji.
When Uta can’t go with you he always makes sure to give you something of his. In hope it would warn other ghouls to keep their distance.
He even goes to the extreme sometimes by wiping his own blood on your chest or some place where you can hide it. He WANTS ghouls to know, that you have been claimed and that there will be problems if they don't keep their distance. One time he tried to give you a necklace made of eyeballs stained with his blood… Your eyes have never twitched like that before and you refused to wear it. So he turned it into a keychain and made it to where the eyeballs looked “fake”.
He knows it’s a bit extra, but you are HIS human, and you are carrying HIS child.
Most nights after he closes up shop he goes upstairs only to find you asleep on the sofa holding your swollen stomach. Seeing this causes him to leave the room only to return a second later with a stool along with his sketchbook. In his eyes you are a true masterpiece, and he wants his child to see this as well one day, especially if you don’t make it through the birthing process.
Once he is finished with his sketch of you he will sign the bottom corner “To our future child, love dad and mom. Aka Uta & _____”
During the day when no one is at his shop you both sit at his workstation discussing mask ideas. Only to find that he’s filled out not one but three sketchbooks with ideas. His favorite was the one identical to his no face one… only it was tiny. One was light pink and the other was a light blue color. “You should go with the pink one” you pointed directly at the pink sketch. “Hmm? Are you trying to tell me something ____?” You just shrugged leaving it to his imagination.
You don’t know how you got so lucky, but one day as you were returning from shopping with Itori you had noticed that HySy was closed. Going up the stairs you smelt a combination of your favorite foods. Sure enough when you reached the door to your shared apartment the smell hit you like a brick. Opening the door you see not only the kitchen but the living filled with plates of some of your favorite foods and desserts.
He’s standing there in the living with sauce and batter all over him with famous heartwarming smile plastered on his face. “I know you’ve been having cravings lately with being pregnant, so I asked Itori to distract you for a while so I could learn these recipes. Ghouls don’t cook these things so I made two of everything just in case.”
He’s literally the sweetest thing ever. He does all he can for you while you’re pregnant. He does the cleaning, he runs baths for you, and he even learned how to cook human meals for you.
He’s made it tradition that every Sunday he tells a story to your stomach, in hope that the growing child is listening.
Before the two of you get lost in sleep he is always sure to place one of his hands on your stomach, this is his way of protecting both you and his child at night xoxo

■ Is ratheraffectionate towards you from the start and doesn’t mind PDA either, he’ll hugyou, kiss you, hold your hand, play with your hair etc. in public or when thetwo of you are alone. He’s not afraid to be affectionate or suggestive with youeven occasionally trying to embarrass you with affection especially in public.
■ Very laidback and easy going he doesn’t take many things too seriously even in therelationship if you get mad at him or such, he thinks it’s cute when you getmad, which makes it hard to take arguments seriously which he really doesn’targue with you anyways. He can talk with you peacefully and work out anyproblems.
■ He is notexactly romantic with you but can have his moments but generally is just sweetand loving towards you, he’ll make things for you or drawings for youoccasionally. He doesn’t spoil you a lot with material items unless there arethings you collect, he can spoil you a bit with snacks, candy or flowers. Butmostly spoils you with attention and affection.

When Uta wasn't painting or making masks, he would be taking you to various places in Tokyo.
Today, he sat at the desk in his studio, scrolling through the cell phone you had bought him.
He had no reason to buy or use a cellphone, so he never had one until you showed him yours. He loved the bright colors your phone had - you got him his own and taught him how to use it.
Many of the ghouls used landlines, payphones, and sometimes even flip phones when necessary as a means of contact.
The phone you had bought him was a standard for your time, a touchscreen.
He soon grew bored with the little interaction it had provided him. He turned it off as he sat up, each vertebra in his back cracking as he leaned back slightly. He raised his arms, stretching, before rubbing his eyes and rolling his head around.
He stood up and turned around. He walked out of his office and closed the door behind him. He waited, listening for any sounds that you made, but there were none. He breathed in. Your scent was faint - you had left.
But where to?
He walked up the stairs and looked around the bedroom. Nothing.
Your scent had been stronger downstairs.
He walked back downstairs, grabbed his sunglasses, and took the elevator to get to the floor that opened up to the outside world.
He looked around, seeing nothing but the other ghouls and smelling the occasional human that walked by.
He removed his glasses to look around quickly before putting them back on.
Again, nothing. He couldn't track your scent, not when it was so easily mixed in with everyone else's.
He sighed as he went back inside and sat down on the couch.
He didn't want you to be alone in the world. It wasn't safe. He wanted to go back up to his studio, where he knew it was the safest spot.
It was still daylight out, though. You should be just fine. You're an adult.
But what if you're not fine? What if something had happened? You were a human. It wasn't a safe world out there all alone.
"They'll be alright," he said to himself as he laid his head back on the couch and stretched his arms out.
He breathed in and out slowly. You would be just fine, at least until sunset - that is when the real danger appeared.
Lurking during the day, waiting for a naïve and dumb human to make such a careless and stupid mistake. How trusting and kind they were.
Uta's eyes slowly closed as he drifted off to take a short and quick nap. Listening very carefully to your footsteps, waking whenever someone had come closer to him, lifting his head as proof, he truly was awake.
The setting sun's orange rays lit up the inside of the building. Uta stepped outside, breathing out slowly, knowing you were out there somewhere, and he would have to hunt you down, but not knowing where to start first.
He breathed in. Your scent was fresh. So fresh, he had just missed you. How could that be?
He turned around so quickly that the person behind him had no time to react. He apologized as he put a hand on them and gently moved them out of his way.
You held your arms to your chest, making 'shh' noises at your chest as you walked into the building. You had snuck out of the building to bring something home and surprise Uta. Ordinarily, you would have told him where you were going, but this time, you didn't.
You knew he would be upset with your sudden disappearance, but maybe your surprise would be good enough for him to not be upset.
You stepped onto the elevator and pressed the four.
You waited, another man joined you, and when it was your stop, you got off.
You walked into the HySy ArtMask Studio and went straight to Uta's office. It was empty.
Your breath caught in your throat. He had been there when you left, and now he wasn't.
You breathed in, it's ok, he couldn't have left.
You walked up the stairs and looked to the right. If Uta wasn't in his office, he would be on the right painting. He wasn't there.
You sat down on the bed and placed the creature on the bed next to you, giving it gentle pets as it mewed.
Uta threw open the door to the building, not really caring if it got damaged or not.
He breathed in your scent, and something else.
He ran to the elevator. It was taking far too long to get to his floor.
He took the stairwell beside the elevator, and by the time he had opened the door and made it to the fourth floor, the elevator dinged as the doors opened up, waiting for its next passenger.
Uta opened up the door to the store, and you raced down to him.
Your foot had just reached the bottom step when Uta stood in front of you.
He gently took your face in his hands and turned your head to look at him.
You smiled happily as he asked where you had been.
"I have a surprise for you."
His face was emotionless. "What is it?"
"Come on, I'll show you!" You replied, as you took one of his hands in and led him up the stairs.
He breathed in, attempting to 'peek' at the surprise. He got a smell, but wasn't quite sure what it was.
"You know, you scared me when you left suddenly."
"I'm fine and I think this surprise will make up for it!"
You said, smiling at him as you stood next to him.
He looked at you. "Where is it?"
"On the bed."
He looked over at it as the creature made another meow.
He knelt at its level.
"What is this?" He asked as he gently poked its ear.
The creature batted at his hand, not liking being poked.
"It's a kitten!" You said as you sat down next to Uta.
"What's it do?"
"Uh, it's similar to a child."
He began to pet the kitten's head, and the kitten began to purr at the affection.
"Why's it vibrating?"
You couldn't help but laugh at his question before finding your composure and answering his question.
"She likes what you're doing. She's showing how grateful she is for your attention and love."
"I like her. How do we take care of her?"
"Cats can sort of take care of themselves. All we need to do is fill her bowl up with food, keep her water bowl filled, and clean her litter box when it's dirty."
