Hey, you probably don't remember but about 2 years ago I messaged UT students asking for info/opinions on UT, as I was trying to decide where to apply. As it turns out I got accepted to UT and I start in the fall. Your answers to all my questions were really helpful and detailed, so I thought I'd ask if you had any general advice for my freshmen year. Overall, I'm feeling a little unprepared so any info is helpful!
I would say go outside your dorm room when you study so you can meet people and make friends while working. Also be aware of what your eating because it’s so easy to get that freshman fifteen. A lot of cheap food, especially in buffet places here, are just empty carbs. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself and go to the free movies they hold on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! It’s a great study break. You can completely remodel who you are this year and shed what other people perceived of you during high school, take advantage of it. Don’t be afraid to switch your major if you find something else you’re more passionate in.
I’m so happy my response still stuck with you after two years! UT has a great atmosphere as long as you find somewhere where you click. I hope it goes smoothly, and if you ever need a helping hand I’m still on campus too (just as an old senior). Don’t be afraid to message me! :)
