Day 8: Lan Xichen
They didn’t expect him to live. The winter sickness sweeps through Cloud Recesses in Lan Huan’s second year and leaves their little heir frail and sickly. In the following months he spends more nights in an infirmary bed than his own and the decision is made; they need a spare. From his first breath A-Zhan must be the perfect Lan, never allowed to set a foot wrong. Lan Huan, by contrast, is shamelessly indulged for where is the harm in coddling a child who will not see adulthood. By the time it’s clear he will, the damage is done.
