TLDR: why can’t people’s own version of Poth exist if we can make our very own versions of god damned Lusttale(and other “problematic” AUs and ships). Is there some sort of nuance I’m missing(please tell me if I am!), or are we being a bit hypocritical right now? And stop assuming—and calling—people are creeps when you barely know them. Please.

Okay so is the whole Poth Situation tm, is that like, “one apple makes the whole bunch look weird as hell,” like with PaperFresh or Cream?

I think most of use are familiar with how that one PJ’s daycare person(I don’t know their name and I don’t care to learn) was very weird with PaperFresh, making it very…groomer-y and/or incest-y in some cases, for lack of a better word. But like, it didn’t have to be like that. Paperjam can be an adult and Fresh is Fresh. They didn’t like…have to be like that.
And with Cream—Cross x Dream—if I’m remembering correctly, that one official comic made by Jakei(hopefully I’m spelling his name right) was kinda…rape-y? I’m so sorry I’m very bad with words, I’m not meaning to downplay anything, I’m just trying to put my thoughts out into something legible. And that Joku had pressured him to make that, and that because of the everything he had deal with joku, Jakei does not like that ship anymore.
But people still do ship it. Like, I think Jakei himself said that it’s fine to ship them, he just doesn’t want to deal with it anymore(very fair).
joku himself is an ass, that’s definite, and yet we still play with the toys he’s given us, with Dreamtale.
On a less serious note(because what happened with Joku is VERY serious, REAL AND ACTUAL people got hurt cause of him) SourAppleStudios drew a weird thing with Aliza and Sans(that I will preface to say that I don’t like, personally), and we still play with our Horrortale dolls.
And from I’m understanding, Goth’s creator got very weird with Poth. Like, Goth grooming Palette weird, apparently, which most people obviously didn’t seem to know until around now.
So why don’t we just make Goth like, a fandom OC? Because being blatantly honest, we’ve kinda been doing that already. We’ve been doing that to almost every grubby little shit we’ve been getting our hands on. But I’ll be honest, i don’t a lot of the people here actually know or knew much about Goth other than “oh hey afterdeath kid who looks neat and can slowly kill people with his touch.” People have just been doing whatever with this guy, disregarding the actual creator’s intent, like MOST PEOPLE IN THIS FANDOM HAS BEEN DOING, whether that’s a good thing or not(so many people have done dusttale!sans dirty—not any of my moots tho).
We all know that the OG Lusttale kinda sucked, right?
So literally why can’t we—collective we—make our own take on Goth? We’ve already done it with so many other “problematic” things(even though problematic, like so many other words, is starting to have less and less of a meaning to it but I don’t care to rant about that), like the aforementioned Lusttale above, so why not Goth? Why not Poth? Why not just make them both dumb kids/adults? I’m not saying you have to like the ship, I’m just saying why not we just fuck ship up and just be adults and play games and whatever the fuck
I will state that I myself am not a fan of the “proship” ships, like fontcest, frans, anything with fucking incest or pedo shit or yada yada you get what I mean. I don’t even like Frans when it’s aged up, and Sans and Frisk meet as adults, like in FlowerFell(WHICH IS A FRANS AU OMG STOP SPREADING MISINFO IT WAS MEANT TO BE FRANS. I don’t even ship Poth myself(I don’t care about Goth tbh his design is kinda bland as hell imo), I don’t ship PaperFresh, I don’t ship Cream, there are so many things I do not ship and find weird—or just don’t care about—but just because someone ships those doesn’t mean they’re “proship.”

Proship, in the purest meaning, is just “anyone can ship whatever they want and that shouldn’t be censored.” Ao3 is INHERENTLY PROSHIP, because it is ANTI-CENSORESHIP. And also. The other kind of proship. It was made by incest shippers(wincest, a ship of the supernatural brothers, I think).
People have been starting to saying that they don’t like “darkship” content, because it’s a more accurate term for these sorts of ship than “proship,” which is more or a state of being or whatever—you don’t care, I don’t care, I’m just a pedantic idiot. I feel like an idiot typing all of this stupid shit out, cause no one cares about me or what I think, no one gives a fuck about anything!!! Nothing at all hell!!
So like, I just—what the fuck are we doing, man. I’m not hating on anyone being uncomfy with Poth. I’M uncomfortable with Poth, personally. But some of you guys in this fandom, and in all fandoms are WAY TOO COMFY CALLING OTHERS CREEPS.
Recently, the slumbertale creator got an ask about Frans. They—from my understanding—tried to respond to it amicably, basically saying “it’s not my thing but do whatever—preferably not with my frisk and sans.” But I don’t know what exactly they said anymore, cause they deleted the ask, and then the corresponding ask where an anon said something along the lines of, “idk even know why you responded to that, frisk met sans when they were a kid,” and the creator basically agreed with that. But again, I can’t remember what the exact wording was.
why do I bring this up? Because another creator I follow got an anon ask saying “did you know that the slumbertale creator is a creep? I to the creepy creator pile they go!” or some other BULLSHIT that took slumbertale’s creator’s words in as bad as a way as they could. The other creator responded to the ask essentially saying “bro why are you telling me this” It was especially bad since that anon didn’t even bother to explain why so-and-so was a creep now. And the other creator also didn’t want random ass people coming into their inbox just to say, “so and so is a creep now” because why the fuck would anyone want that??? Especially done in such a distasteful way.
listen. Most Poth shippers likely aren’t creeps. You can’t just call people that. You don’t know them like that just from them shipping a teen x teen and/or an adult x adult Poth. That doesn’t mean you have to like that person, but it doesn’t mean you should hate solely for shit like that. Block the tag, block the people, but that doesn’t make them inherently evil. Have you played Undertale, the game all about being nice and crap? ??? Be nicer to people.
Sorry if any of this is aggressive or rude, I don’t mean it to be, for the most part. I’m just so confused about this. Confused at how some people respond to situations when someone is not responding personally perfectly, or when someone just doesn’t care too much about the situation because they’re an adult and have better things to do than comb through each and everyone’s blogs and socials—just to see if they’re “problematic.” I try not to do that too much because it makes my OCD a billion times worse haha. Compulsions and what not.

What if, and hear me out: Every popular Sans is actually, in fact, not a black and white character, but rather a character with layers. And while some aspects are neglected, exaggerated, or poorly written, they also have complex and interesting traits that makes that Sans a valid favourite.
Criticism to the flaws and praise to the well structured parts of their stories can and should co-exist.

Nah it’s fine even if it were directed at me, a little consecutive criticism and differing opinions goes a long way and is important. Although now I’m kinda curious what this was about, or what kinda discussions are going on about which Sanses are better written and things like that. Mostly on my side of things I’m getting canon vs fanon discussions, but not really about which is better written or not.
