eric nam concert brisbane rant
So, I paid $130 for the VIP ticket to see eric in brisbane (it hurt but it's so worth it) and it included the concert, early entry into the concert and a meet and greet the day before. Then, rumors started going around that it was cancelled etc. and although utopia ent were assuring everyone it was all still on, their answers were quite avoiding (e.g. when someone asked if the meet and greet was still on, instead of saying yes "yes", they said everything would work out etc). Then, today I get an email which I'm assuming has been sent to everyone who bought the VIP tickets (and maybe A standing, which was just early entry, since it's mentioned in the email) about the changes. Basically, instead of a concert, it's a showcase (unsure of the difference, except for it maybe being shorter?) plus Elly Oh wouldn't be appearing (not really disappointed). That's all good, whatever right. But then, it says because of all this, ticket types and prices have been changed. instead of the 3 ticket types (general standing, A standing, VIP) it's now 2 (general, VIP). And instead of VIP being $130 it's $60. The email then goes on to say the options for people who had already purchased VIP or A standing tickets.
Either get entrance to showcase, fan sign and hi touch event plus special admission to early rehearsal. Or get a refund for the difference ($70). I have 2 problems with this:
number 1: VIP tickets and A standing tickets had different price ranges (I think A standing were $90, and VIP were $130). However, the same options are being offered for both tickets. So one person would get the above mentioned things for $90, and one for $130. There seems to be no extra for the people (i.e. me) who paid $130 then for people who paid $90. I do not understand, especialy as A standing tickets did not get entry into the meet and greet, they got entry into an AO crew thing. Only VIP tickets got to do the meet and greet with Eric. So not only are they now getting what the VIP tickets should have been getting, but at a cheaper price, they are getting extra then what they paid for.
number 2: The cheaper VIP tickets include the showcase, fansign and hi touch event. Meaning the only extra thing people who paid $130 would get is the early admission to rehearsal. I love Eric and all, but I do not think that is worth an extra $70. I would not have paid it had I known. 70 freaking dollars just to see the rehearsal, the same stuff we would see at the actual show.
I have sent a question regarding all of this to utopia, hoping they can clear it up. however, if I am correct, it's complete and utter bullshit. I may as well get the refund for $70 and just miss the rehearsal, because honestly this has been handled so badly. I understand they had problems, however the differences in what was offered for each ticket should be kept. People who went all out and purchased the very expensive VIP tickets are not being treated fairly. They should be rewarded for spending so much, yet they are getting cheated out of money.
