G1 My Little Pony comic #29 (1986) - "A Terrible Accident"
Airhead’s birthday was approaching, and their friends, Callwing and Mooshy Fungi weren’t really sure what to do, the pony was always so lost in daydreams they could never think of what they truly wanted. So their friends thought really hard about things Airhead would like, they just didn’t know they wanted it yet. Then, the next day, they came up to Airhead and gave them a bouquet of flowers.
“For you, Airhead!” The ponies said.
“Oh, they’re beautiful!” Said Airhead, happily. “Thank you so much.”
And that was a wonderful birthday surprise!
my bday is 2morrow, n my parents got me a beautiful flower bouquet n i got so emotional about it i nearly cried lmao... they were rly pretty <33 n since flowers always make me think of flutter ponies, well, i couldnt help but not do this!

Comments: This is the first appearance of the flutter ponies in the comics--surprisingly low-key, at that. I guess they assumed kids would know them from the movie.
The fact that they have Utter Flutter is one of the few bits of canon that remain the same between the G1 TV show versus the comic series.
Oh, and I believe Rosedust's name suggestion is Geranium.
