My thoughts on Doomsday by Parrot

First off. Wow. Just. I know I had a lot of criticisms about the last video, but this one? Peak Cinema bro. Like genuinely this was incredible major props to Parrot (and his team if it's not just him writing his videos). And of course, major props to everyone who came together to make the video. Buckle up because this one is long. Like I know some of my other posts have been long but this one is really long.

Okay so first off, it opened up very cinematically with Parrot's friends lined up at the bottom of the wall/castle/entrance and Parrot himself at the top, though I found it hilarious and very in character that Parrot himself was not standing still at the top and was instead jumping back and forth. What a silly little guy.

Second we then go to a scene of Wifies and Parrot talking about the mafia and why they're invis. "Because they're afraid of being seen." I feel like there's something to unpack here but I'm a little too dumb to find it.

Then we get the return of hope!fies. If you haven't read any of my other posts on this series, I previously talked about how a big part of Parrot's character his having hope in the face of any and every adversity, and that when even Parrot himself lost hope, Wifies had enough hope for the both of him and brought him back. And then when they were searching for the Farlands, Wifies gave up and Parrot's hope wasn't enough to convince him to march on.

But in the previous video, Wifies came back and decided to help Parrot in what he previously called a death wish. Now, in that video it's hard to tell if Wifies genuinely believed that they could defeat the mafia or if he just went "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" because he's a little obsessed with Parrot (codependent relationships my beloved).

Here, in this video, it's clear that Wifies did manage to get his hope back. In fact, he does a full 180 and just goes all in with it. Throughout the video he talks about the beacons and how they symbolize hope. That even if lighting them means only one player is given hope in the face of the mafia, then it's worth it. And also that it symbolizes a threat to the mafia. Because the mafia is held together by fear, but people coming together in unity and hope is enough of a threat to scare them, at least a little bit. It was very refreshing to see Wifies so hopeful and positive.

I will say I was really sad that Horace left, but honestly I can't even blame him. This poor guy is so tired of building incredible things, either for free or nearly for free, and then them getting demolished after like a week or less. Like at least the mafia actually has the resources to protect his builds, you know? And obviously he would never betray them by giving the mafia the location to this base. Why would he get one of his own builds destroyed?

Parrot killing that player they brought back from spawn reminded me a lot of his character arc when Clownpierce was hunting him. Here, Parrot is full of hope, yes, but he's also scared and paranoia-filled. And it's understandable; personally, I think they should have thought more about the vetting process before deciding to let anyone who's not part of the mafia in. For the smartest Minecraft player, it did feel like Parrot was underthinking things sometimes. Again, understandable; it's wartime, he can't be expected to be at his best mentally.

I was so excited to see Spoke and Mappic, and they didn't let me down. They remained silly, which was nice to have as a sort of palette cleanser from all the earlier stresses of the video. Though Spoke downplaying what he did to Parrot and Wifies pissed me off a bit; I love the guy but that was genuine psychological torture. I know it's been like half a year by this point but c'mon, he at least owes them an apology. And then saying "It was just a prank"??? Bruh. Spoke lock in and stop being an asshole challenge.

I was also surprised and not surprised at Odyssey Duo's willingness to work with Spoke and just. Let bygones be bygones, essentially. Like I know there's more important things to worry about than their beef, but they were so chill about it.

First post not art related. Can i just say, i fucking love-hate doomsday duo? Especially unstable universe them. I need more content?? And the dadtech stuff?? Hello??? Hey???? What is wrong with you all!??? I miss unstable universe.
