and the first club to break that cycle n win the cup in 1960/61 was—

and then NEXT SEASON- benfica reaches the final again and wins vs whomst??

and so far we haven’t n like okay who sacks the back to back european champion managaer oKAY

but anyways there’s /clearly/ a reoccurring theme around benfica, real madrid and cycles

like how real madrid won ec for five years in a row and then benfica broke that cycle and how real madrid was the last team we won an european final against n began the bela guttmann curse cycle

after all these years and TEN (10) european finals lost we never played real madrid in the final again

SO— all we have to do is play another european final vs them and we will win

AND the opportunity can present itself right now if rm beats salzburg n qualifies for youth league final which benfica already qualified for

and DONT tell me it youth league doesn’t count because 1. it’s still an international european clubs competition and 2. i DID NOT JUST lose 2 finals for iT TO NOT COUNT

anyways once we break the cycle n win uyl we will have a clear path for ucl next season since the president has stated that’s one of the main goals he has for the club n actually seems like he’s trying to have a relatively competitive team w the recent signings n cause it’s elections year and he’s scared ❤️ *sign cavani luv❤️❤️*
