Jinx never understood the big deal about diamonds. Sure, they were certainly pretty, but they were plain. But it seemed these plain old diamonds were stolen family heirlooms. Jinx didn’t normally take jobs like this - normally, if she took a thieving job, she was stealing weapons, technology, files, or one one occasion, a dog... Jewels was usually what she did on her own time.
But the Ainsley seemed desperate for their jewels back, offering to pay her triple what the they were worth. They’d fallen out of the family’s grasp somewhere in the 50′s, before they were displayed in a museum years later. That museum didn’t seem to keen on giving them back now.
It didn’t take her long to bypass the security system. She was loading them into the entrusted case when she realized she wasn’t alone.
The only thing that stopped her from firing an immediate hex was the realization that it was Starfire. Jinx liked Starfire - or at least, she used too. Her sweet innocence combined with her complete competence when fighting made her endearing enough. Jinx had grown rather attached to her as a person ( some might have even said friends ) but Jinx couldn’t place the last time she had seen her in her head. She never really wanted to see any of the titans, not wanting to see the disappointment that would linger in their eyes...
“Surprised to see you here, Starfire,” Jinx greeted, flatly. She’d prefer not to fight, if she could help it.
