The whole time he had been treating her wound he held a look of concern on his face, one that he didn’t typically have for other people. But once he saw her prop herself up, the look of concern faded. He sat quietly, his elbow resting on the table next to him and his head resting in his hand as he observed the other.
Seeing her eyes narrow the way they did when she was able to get a good look at him, one of the corners of his mouth raised slightly in a slight yet arrogant half grin. You won’t find out that easily he wanted to say but since she hadn’t brought it up, he would keep quiet on the matter. It wasn’t hard for him to tell she had looked to see who the man under the Red X mask was and was disappointed to find it was still a mystery. Her apparently annoyance at that amused him.
A hand went up when she asked questions, a finger going up with each question he answered. “My apartment. You told me to make myself useful so I did. And a whole lot of nunya.”
He got up and went back into the cabinet the medical supplies came from, grabbing a small bottle, painkillers, before going to the fridge to get a water bottle. If it were him, he knew he would be wary taking medication from someone else. The threat of someone poisoning him would always loom in the back of his mind, as he was sure she probably felt as well. However this time they were just that, pain medication. He had no ill intention towards her and he certainly didn’t want to hurt her. It would just be an option if decided to trust that he was only trying to help and that he wasn’t trying to get anything out of this. “Pain killers and water.” He set them down on the table, close to her so she wouldn’t have to reach far to get them. “Take ‘em if you want.”
He returned to his spot in his chair, now sitting up. He leaned forward in his seat, both his arms lay crossed over his lap. What no one knew, and frankly what Finn preferred to keep to himself, was that Red X was no just a persona he took up when he felt the impulse of committing a crime; it was an escape for him, a chance for him to be someone else for a little while. It wasn’t unusual for him to put on the suit and just go out into the night as Red X before deciding how he wanted to spend his night. In short, being Red X was almost an addiction for him. He would never get over the thrill of avoiding arrest and jumping buildings, the adrenaline that pumped through him in life threatening situations being an incredible feeling for him. This night had been one of those situations where he actually wasn’t doing anything and just happened to be in the right place at the right time. He wouldn’t tell her that though.
“That was a nasty wound. What did you do to piss that other guy off?” He hadn’t see the whole thing, admittedly. The sounds of a struggle were what drew him in the first place, he didn’t know what started it.
It was his overall concern that put her off in the first place. He genuine way he sounded as he treated the stab wound wasn’t only surprising, but it made her suspicious. What did he want from her? What sort of payment was he expecting? She new next to nothing about X, but he didn’t seem to be the type of person to help someone like her without expecting something in return. But the concern that laced his voice as he told her that he’d make everything as painless didn’t leave her, even as it seemed to melt off of him now that it no longer seemed like she was bleeding out in his bed.
His answers only sparked more questions in her mind. Her eyes narrowed as he refused to tell her what he was doing out there – was he on some type of job too, then? Or was he trying to be as private as possible? Was this his real apartment? Or simply a disposable safehouse? Jinx had many of those littered across major cities, it was a smart move, especially when she wanted to throw herself away from Jump City and the Teen Titans.
“Painkillers?” Jinx raised one pink eyebrow, staring at them, multiple thoughts running through her mind. Poisoning, or worse… but something in her gut told her otherwise.That was what made her breathing slow down. She didn’t relax even as she clocked the exits and stared hard at X, trying to memorize every detail of his face – maybe she would recognize him if she ever saw his civilian persona. He seemed normal enough. He wasn’t like her, who had to go the extra mile to make herself unrecognizable to the public. Specially made contacts and hair dye and an obnoxious amount of makeup to hide the pink marking on her cheeks… it was a lot of work. She was almost a little jealous. “Right.”
She took her chances with the pain killers when she audibly winced as she forced herself to sit all the way up and removed herself from the pool of blood on the bed. Jinx wouldn’t get far, even with the pain killers. Exhaustion slowly was creeping into her limbs and she knew she would just pass out and all sorts of trouble could come from that. Jinx took the pills easily, giving a slight wave of thanks.
Hey, if she died, she died, right? Better than dealing with the god-awful pain in her side.
“It wasn’t a big deal.” Jinx shrugged his question off. It sort of was a big deal – a wound that could have killed her was a big deal. “I got hired by an organization to steal something, and apparently, they weren’t too keen on following their end of the bargain after it was done.” Her nose wrinkled. At least she had destroyed the lab sample so they couldn’t have it. Served them right for attacking her like that – there had just been too many of them, and she lost track of them all… Her thoughts went back to the final blast….
Jinx’s side throbbed as she remembered the knife going into her as a bright pink blast threw itself from her body in self defense. She remembered seeing the man’s body crack against the adjacent brick wall before her vision began to blur and she began to stagger away …
“You didn’t happen to call an ambulance back at the scene, did you?” Jinx grimaced. A direct hit from a strong hex like that? Uncontrolled and wild due to panic… well, the guy was probably dead. Somehow that didn’t make her feel any better.
@starfirechan / plotted starter.
Jinx never understood the big deal about diamonds. Sure, they were certainly pretty, but they were plain. But it seemed these plain old diamonds were stolen family heirlooms. Jinx didn’t normally take jobs like this - normally, if she took a thieving job, she was stealing weapons, technology, files, or one one occasion, a dog... Jewels was usually what she did on her own time.
But the Ainsley seemed desperate for their jewels back, offering to pay her triple what the they were worth. They’d fallen out of the family’s grasp somewhere in the 50′s, before they were displayed in a museum years later. That museum didn’t seem to keen on giving them back now.
It didn’t take her long to bypass the security system. She was loading them into the entrusted case when she realized she wasn’t alone.
The only thing that stopped her from firing an immediate hex was the realization that it was Starfire. Jinx liked Starfire - or at least, she used too. Her sweet innocence combined with her complete competence when fighting made her endearing enough. Jinx had grown rather attached to her as a person ( some might have even said friends ) but Jinx couldn’t place the last time she had seen her in her head. She never really wanted to see any of the titans, not wanting to see the disappointment that would linger in their eyes...
“Surprised to see you here, Starfire,” Jinx greeted, flatly. She’d prefer not to fight, if she could help it.
me: is jinx even a villain tho? or is she just cranky?
my friend: meri she steals things
me: OKAY BUT SHE’S NOT TAKING OVER THE WORLD ANYMORE SO LIKE IT COULD BE WORSE

@neveranoption from here
It really was a dog eat dog world in the world thieves existed in. It was everybody for themselves. It was not uncommon for two of them to get caught in a skirmish. X had saw the whole thing from the roof tops. Initially he thought nothing of it, thinking Jinx was capable of taking care of herself. At least in this instance, boy was he wrong. Beneath the mask his eyes widened at the sight of the knife penetrating into her, a knot forming in his stomach at the sight of the blood that followed shortly after. He bit his lip, on the fence on whether he should help or not. On one hand, him helping people willingly was just not something he normally did. But on the other hand, that wound looked deep. She looked like she couldn’t even stand. She might even die if he left her. Thief or not, he knew if the other died and he could have done something to stop it, it would haunt him for a long time. He didn’t need that weighing down on his conscience.
When the other thug had disappeared he jump down from the building and approached her, his nose wrinkled at the sight of her, pale and wounded on the ground. “By the looks of it, you’re not in any position to be giving orders,” He responded dryly before stooping down to her level. “Don’t take the pressure off. And don’t make me regret this either,” he warned before putting an arm around her shoulders and the other under her knees, picking her up princess style before warping the two of them to what appeared to be a studio apartment. It was very empty, save for a bed, one folding table and folding chair, and a small kitchen area. The plain beige curtains were shut, obstructing the view out the window. There were three doors, a closet, a restroom, and one that was kept locked.
X set Jinx on the bed gently, taking note that the sheets would have to be changed once this was all over. He then made his way over to the kitchen area, removing his gloves and washing his hands, then filling a bowl with warm water. He then rummaged through a cabinet before coming back to the bedside, dragging over the table with his foot and setting his supplies down on it.
He then went back to the kitchen area and reached into a different cabinet, pulling out a black domino mask. The idea of helping her with the mask on felt weird to him. But at the same time, his identity was very important to him and he couldn’t risk her figuring out who he was. With his back still turned to her, he pulled the skull mask he always wore off, his black messy hair gently falling from the part that was covering his head. He then reached to the domino mask and secured it over his eyes, before running over to the window, opening the curtains, and shutting the light. The light of the moon and city would have to be enough. He needed the chances of her figuring out who he was to be as low as possible.
He then moved to pull the chair up and sat down, then moving to soak a clean wash cloth he had in the warm water. “Hold still. I’ll try to make it as painless as I can,” he spoke all sarcasm and cynicism having left his voice. After wringing out the cloth, he reached out to gently try cleaning the blood around and on the wound. Once the blood was cleared, he reached for another clean wash cloth, this time using rubbing alcohol to make extra sure the wound was clean before reaching for cotton and medical tape. He lined the cotton along the wound before using the tape to try and close the wound. “How’s that?”
What bothered Jinx most of all was how that man managed to get near her in the first place. Her combat style was efficient – she was good enough gymnast to throw herself around the room doing cartwheels and flips, all the while throwing hexes every which way. And if someone got too close, it was either a hex or her fist that sent them back before they could even get a good look at her. Jinx tried to replay what had happened in her head – he was just some thug with a knife! He had to have gotten lucky. The thought made her grimace in pain as she almost doubled over, X’s words almost falling on deaf ears.
“ Shove – ” Jinx’s insult slurred into a painful gasp as X picked her up. Her grip tightened on around the material and bit down hard on her cheek to keep from crying out as they disappeared. That was the second time he had teleported with her and it was still as unnerving as the first time. If she was in better condition, she’d be far more apt to take in her surroundings. X and his identity was a mystery to everyone – even the Titans. They’d kill to be in her position right now, and she was pretty sure she’d let them have it. When it came to medical treatment, she usually never needed it, therefore she really only knew the basics. Jinx could give herself clumsy stitches if need be, that’s how she got a few other small scars, but she’d never had anything as serious as a stab wound.
The second he put her own a bed, she let out some noise of protest before rolling onto her side, pressing the fabric harder into her skin. She had to be doing a decent job with that – She didn’t think the knife wound was too deep, but she couldn’t see it properly to deal with herself. There was too much pain and she was starting to feel the world spin if she opened her eyes for too long. God – she was a mess, she could feel it. The magic in her hair bands had worn off, her bright pink hair sticking to the dark skin of her face and neck.
It wasn’t long before he was back and she had to roll again. That was the worst bit, she decided. Rolling so he could get a good look at the wound – pain shot up her body and she hissed a noise of protest, before the anxiety set in. She didn’t like this. Maybe he should have just left her there. Trusting someone wasn’t really her thing and sure, he might treating her wound, but she wasn’t certain that it wouldn’t come back to bite her in the ass either now or later down the line.
“ Ouch! ” Jinx growled between clenched teeth. Another thing that set her back was pain. As strong as she was, Jinx’s pain tolerance was outstandingly low. X, after a while ( too long, in her dazed opinion. far too long ), was finally done and instead of curling into a ball on the blood soaked sheets like she wanted too, she was able to prop herself up to inspect the damage.
Wincing, Jinx examined his handywork silently, running her fingers along the now-bandaged wound. Really, she was calculating how exactly she’d need to conduct herself for the next few weeks until this thing healed. She saw now that it was more of a gash than a true stab wound, which could arguably be more troublesome. Depending on if they were in the same city they were before, her safe house would be stocked with supplies. She’d have to lay low there, taking care of the wound. She examined his bandaging until she was satisfied she wouldn’t bleed out. Finally, Jinx looked to X.
Domino mask. Like Robin. Except it clearly was not Robin. Exhaustion clung to her, likely from the amount of blood she’d lost, but her eyes narrowed.
“Looks like I’ll live,” she said, her tone dry and untrusting. “Thanks to you.” She started looking around the apartment. “Where are we? Why did you take me here?” What do you want. Who are you. Questions continued rolling through her mind over and over again. She couldn’t panic now, but she felt her heartrate start to accelerate as she tried to clock all the exits. How far could she make it before she started bleeding again - if it had even stopped full in the first place? How many windows? Any other doors she should know about?
“What were you doing?”
