Tony stared ahead as he led up to Loki in the throne room, not sure why this was happening or when he agreed to it. But evidently, Howard Stark had signed Tony’s life away as a child so he could have extra help finding Steve Rogers. Evidently, it was in some ancient contract and Asgard was insisting he follow through. Something about blood oaths. He wasn’t sure but he was cursing Howard in his head.
If he had actually found Steve, this might have been a different story. But Howard was just a fool. He glanced around at the ornate room and then focused on Loki, grimacing. The rest of the Avengers were going to kill him for this. He was stood in front of Loki minutes later. “I gotta say, when I offered a free drink, I didn’t mean that and a marriage.”
Adding to the bizarre situation for Asgard’s reluctant guest was that his groom-to-be was chained neck to hands to ankles, still a prisoner after the Incident not so many months earlier. Loki turned to see the man he had once antagonised, his own expression so aloof he had either burst his outrage some time before or had yet to address it.
“I hardly expected my sentence to get any worse. It seems Odin will be using me for his sly politics after all. As a matter of fact, he was so excited about this occasion, he forgot to show up, as did the rest of my family.”
The sarcasm could have melted his chains had it manifested. No, the Allfather had not seen fit to stomach the swift and strict ceremony of his adopted son’s marriage, particularly because Odin did not want Frigga or Thor finding out about it until the deed was done.
