“i’m lookin’ into extreme couponing. these dogs are eatin’ us outta house ‘n home.”
every light in the house is off except the one over the sink, one bulb out of two blown out weeks ago that she hasn’t mentioned so she doesn’t have to crawl up on the counter to replace it. two dogs at her feet, the biggest laying on her toes and keeping them warm. a magazine open that she’s not actually reading, like it’s some children’s book and she can get all her information from the pictures. the back door creaks open, and she’s still and silent, body tense as she sees his looming figure in the dark.
‘ figured you weren’t comin’ back t’night. ’
@xdemondrinker
He’s nervous. Every ounce of him feels like it’s standing on end. His hands keep ringing in front of him, and he’s pacing in front of the bathroom door. For once the house feels suffocatingly quiet, and he almost wishes the dogs that are lined up watching him pace would make some sort of sound. Instead they stand as a silent audience while he strains to hear what’s happening in the other room. It’s not that he dreads what’s potentially going to come through that door. The idea of having a baby with anyone had been so far out of his mind that he’d barely given it much thought. Even back when he’d had Jess and the urge to ask her to marry him was burning a hole in his tongue. Sure he’d pictured kids in that far flung future before she’d died, where he was a successful lawyer and they’d graduated school at the top of their class.
After that thoughts of his future had dwindled to what he was going to be doing the next few hours, and if necessary how he was going to survive the following day. It wasn’t until Zoe came into his life that he’d even considered the possibility of settling down ever again. At least not…for real. He’d moved to this farm and taken in all these dogs with the intention of sticking to one place, but the burn to keep moving had still been there. Then Zoe was a part of his life and that burn fizzled to nonexistent as his happiest, safest place, became right here. With her.
Thinking of having a baby therefore didn’t really fill him with dread. On the contrary it made something else churn in his gut, and made the future seem…intense. Suddenly he felt cemented in this one place, this one time. He’d built roots into this earth, and a baby meant those roots had taken and solidified.
Didn’t mean he couldn’t feel light headed about it though.
“Zoe? You alive in there?” His head pressed against the door, eyes closing to try and focus on the feel of the grainy wood door against his forehead. Large hands hovering just above the surface like he could somehow feel the vibrations coming off the wood. Sense what was happening on the other side.
His answer was the door opened, and he hoped he didn’t look like he was about to pass out. Because he distinctly remembered grasping at the door frame to keep himself from crashing face-first onto the tile floor between them. “So- what’s the verdict?” There was a pause where they stared at each other. His eyes caught by hers, frozen in the expression there and watching in awe as first her eyes lit up and then the rest of her features.
He was almost too struck by how beautiful she looked, to care about what the answer was. Momentarily captivated by the light that emanated off her face and made his heart skip and fumble in his chest. Then he was smiling too. Not just that, but he was closing the distance between them and lifting her up in his arms.
“We’re having a baby!”
She’s floating somewhere between alive and about to keel over waiting for this stupid timer to go off on the bathroom counter. Why she’d insisted on finding out by herself is beyond her; it’s not like they haven’t shared a bathroom for things much worse than peeing on a stick before, but Zoe’s pretty sure she just didn’t want Sam to watch her slowly but surely have a nervous breakdown.
Ever since she realized she was late... like... really late... Zoe had kind of already known what was going on. It took her a few days to get her courage up to break the possibility of this news to Sam (and it didn’t take him but fifteen minutes to run into town and buy her a test), but she also didn’t want to keep him in the dark purely for selfish reasons - like going through this part entirely alone. So now she’s waiting in the bathroom, nervously watching the countdown on her phone and waiting for it to hit 00:00 so she can peek at the nearly inevitable two pink lines on the pregnancy test she took two minutes ago.
Sam’s voice breaks her out of her constant worrying thoughts and she hollers back “I’m still breathin’, if that counts!” Still her leg is jumping and she’s picking at her nails like they’ve done her some kind of personal disservice. And it’s not that she’s scared, even though somewhere in her mind she thinks she should be. Zoe knows full well she has everything she could ever want here with Sam. He loves her, more than she ever thought she was worthy of, and she loves him just as furiously, another thing she didn’t think capable.
The beep, beep, beep of her cell phone goes off and she snatches the test off the counter, taking in a deep breath before flipping it over in her hands. Two pink lines. A smile breaks out on her face so hard it almost hurts her cheeks and she barely gets the door open before she’s nearly in tears. Her expression must have been enough to convey the results because next thing she knows she’s practically flung into the air by her giant boyfriend and her arms wrap securely around his neck, face pressed to the high cheekbone on his face.
“Oh my god we’re havin’ a baby. This is... Holy shit. I - I wanna cry, but I wanna laugh, and dance, and - and ... just... Jesus Christ, Sam we’re havin’ a freakin’ kid!”
@xdemondrinker
Sometimes they’re busy and they work, and though they try to match schedules it doesn’t always work out. Either he’ll be out late or she will, and the other will be left to their own devices. It’s not like they need to be constantly together, nothing like that. It was just that since they’d found each other Sam found they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. He’ll admit most of it was him, it seemed he couldn’t go more then a few minutes without reaching out and touching her. Fingers and lips glued to her skin like she was a living magnet.
So coming home and walking in on her like that, well he definitely wasn’t going to be leaving the room anytime soon. For a moment he just stood in the doorway and admired the situation he’d just walked into. His lips pulling back into a wide grin as he kicked the door closed behind him. Effectively stopping any of the dogs from following him in.
“Need help with that?”
He was kicking his boots off, half undressed, and crawling onto the bed not a heartbeat later. Pressing a kiss to her lips as his hands tugged her forward, until their hips were pressed together.
He’d only been gone a few hours, but damn. He’d missed her.
She didn’t expect him home for another couple hours or so. The message left on the answering machine alluding to the fact that he was busy at work and picking up a couple of overtime hours so Zoe figured she’d eat, feed the dogs and let them run outside for a while, then go to bed early. Problem was she always had a terrible time falling asleep now that she was used to Sam curling around her like an overheated octopus and pressing kisses to the back of her neck until she slipped off to sleep.
So instead of actively trying to get any semblance of sleep Zoe found herself splayed out in the middle of their bed, panties down around one ankle under the covers with a hand between her thighs and the other gripping hard on the wrought iron bars on the headboard.
She didn’t even hear him come in; the dogs didn’t bark when he drove up and they all stayed in relatively the same spot outside in the hallway until he walked around the corner. His voice made her stop her motions quickly, eyes flying open until she saw that grin on his face that told her she wouldn’t have to do this for herself any longer.
“I could use a hand.”
It’s the most natural thing in the world to welcome him into bed, wrap up in him and lose herself. The press of hips and clash of tongues do little to slow her libido down even the slightest bit. Legs wrap around his waist and she pulls him closer, runs short nails down the dips and curves of his back.
“I missed ya Sammy.”
@xdemondrinker
A sleepy groan as he buries his face into his pillow. “Already?” His body instinctively folds in on itself, tugging the sheets up and over his head like that’s going to stop the noise. “Didn’t she just fall asleep…” The words come out muffled, half lost against the cushion of his pillow.
Even then he’s inching towards the edge of the bed. Dragging himself towards the sound like it’s drawing him in. His head lifts and hazel eyes blink back lingering sleep as best they can. “I’ll go. Jus’ give me a minute-” his head turns, catching the approaching yawn against his forearm.
- — ❝ She’s a month old Sam, she ain’t got no sense’a time. ❞ Zoe’s gotten used to hearing the wailing and crying at this time of the night, and while she doesn’t mind getting up and tending to their brand new baby girl, she looks at Sam like he’s an angel when he starts scooting towards the side of the bed.
❝ Thanks baby. ❞ Her hands runs down the length of his back as he goes and she watches as he goes through the door, ears tuned again to the sound of the whimpers on the monitor. She should try to get back to sleep but she loves listening to him soothe the child back to sleep.
She Thinks My Tractors Sexy
@xdemonclaus
He actually snorts at the question, head shaking as he looked up at her. “Kinda busy here ya’ know…” He’s crouched down next to the tractor, its engine a mess of parts and wires in front of him. It’s an old thing, dirt cheap, but still functional with a little bit of care. Or at least he was hoping it was anyway.
Still he finds himself grinning, reaching out to tug her down enough to press a brief kiss to her lips. “Are you bored…or just trying to relive your teenage years?” There’s that wide grin on his face, eyes locked on hers “Been a long time since I’ve actually been asked to make-out.”
She’s got her thumbs hooked in the pockets of a pair of jean cut-off short overalls that’s actually far too accurate for a stereotype right now. And because she doesn’t stand far away, she can see the absolute mess that this tractor is going to make, but it doesn’t seem to be discouraging him, and she doesn’t want to step on his toes and offer help unless he asks for it.
She kisses him back, lingers to nibble on his bottom lip and drive her question home. It’s a dirty tactic but it usually works to get her what she wants. She lets her own smirk settle on her face. “Neither. I just happen t’think a man covered in grease and workin’ on a tractor is a turn-on. Figured I’d give it a shot.”

How they first met: zoe moved in next door to sam after moving out of california. his dogs came over to investigate the new neighbor and she walked over to get them back home so they weren’t running underfoot while she tried to move things into her house.Where their first date was: They didn’t know, at the time, that it was a date. They’d planned on it just being dinner as friends/acquaintances. They went to a Japanese restaurant and Zoe learned about the amazingness of shrimp-sauce.When they had their first kiss: It was that same night, as their “date that wasn’t a date.” They’d taken one car, because why the hell not, right? And when they pulled back up in Sam’s driveway, he walked with her over to her house, which, in hindsight was still kind of a long walk because they had multiple acres of land between the two of them. Took her up to her door and everything. Very gentlemanly, just like Sam Winchester always tries to be. A conversation was finished up, and if you ask either of them now they don’t remember what it was about. Sam hated that awkward silence moment right before you say goodnight though, so he didn’t even give it time to settle in before he just took a chance. It was supposed to be short, sweet, more of a ‘thank you for coming to dinner’ but... well it wasn’t. Zoe has a hard time with sweet and simple where kisses are concerned. To say she ended up with her back pressed against the front door and her fingers tangled in his hair is, at the very least, an understatement.Who cooks: Sam. God if Zoe cooked, neither of them would have a house. He does teach her the things he’s learned over time though, and she’s getting a little better. At least she remembers that water is required to cook pasta now.Who proposed: Neither, so far. They’re kind of comfortable in whatever this companionship they have right now is.The dominate one: Sam. Oh god it’s totally Sam. Zoe is subby as hell, but sometimes, like when Sam’s asleep and she’s feel frisky, the tides get turned and she tortures him to within an inch of his life until he just can’t take it anymore.Their favorite pass time together: They spend a lot of time outside, playing with the dogs. It’s not necessarily a past time, but it’s something they like doing. It gives them both the sense of “family time” that they’ve been missing.Who kissed who first: Sam did it!Who is the flirt: Zoe. All the time. She teases the crap out of him. Little touches here and there. Crawling up on the kitchen counter when he’s cooking and tugging him over to make out until something may or may not be burning on the stove. Yep.Who is the romantic: It’s not above Sam to just happen to walk past some flowers and pick them and put them in a vase for Zoe. But it’s also not above Zoe to see that Sam’s past is catching up to him and give him a nice hard massage to relieve his tension and take care of him.Who wakes up first: After they moved in together, they kind of seem to start waking up at the same time. They like to go on runs together with the dogs in the morning, maybe make it to town to go to farmer’s markets before they head back home. It’s like a weekend ritual. Who comforts who the most: Sam’s been through a helluva lot more shit than Zoe has, and sometimes he still has nightmares. Zoe just holds him and brushes her fingers through his hair, let’s him talk it out if he wants to, or just sits there with him until his breathing evens out and he’s fallen into a nice deep sleep again. The cuddler: Both of them. On the couch. On the porch swing. In the car. In bed. It doesn’t really matter where they are. They like to be touching each other whenever they can.The big spoon: Sam. Zoe’s a whole foot shorter than he is. It would be ridiculous to expect otherwise. But there are nights, when Sam happens to let go and turn over and Zoe will curl up to his back and kiss his spine, arms wrapped around him as far as she can get and fall back to sleep like that.

1) There was sweet tea and a sunset. Dogs lay around their ankles and the soft squeak of the porch swing chains was mixing with the sound of crickets chirping in the field beside the house. Zoe had kicked off her flip flops, Sam still had mud on the bottom of his boots. Turkey casserole settled in stomachs that didn’t ever seem to stay empty when the two of them came together.
