It had been a few months since anyone had seen the former knight in Kou. Many had speculated that he’d run away, others pegging him as dead. Nobody knew for certain, but it was definitely unusual, considering he had a thing for a certain general, and would most likely not have left, at least without saying goodbye or telling him where he was going.
Until rumors that people had started seeing him about the palace again began o surface. Had he returned? Had he never been gone in the first place?? Only Spartos had the answers at this point. It seemed he’d been spotted roaming the prisons down below the palace, only occasionally being found up in the gardens where he first met Drakon, but something seemed off about him. Nobody dared approach him, but they did inform the general immediately.
At this time, the knight was in the gardens, not expecting Drakon to show up.
The knight king was in no way sitting on his throne like he should. He was laying on it, upper torso and legs hanging off the edges, one arm hanging loosely as he held his lance with it, while the other he was moving around as if he was conducting music or dancing or the sort, while he hummed. As the guards announced a visitor, he either had noticed and ignored the announcement or he didn’t bother to hear whatever had been said, instead laughing at what seemed like nothing.
As the other approached though, it did seem like he’d been listening, as he got up, frowning slightly. “Boo.. I was hoping it was one of my cute knights~” He said, sitting back down and leaning on his lance. “Who are you??” He asked but immediately cut the other off. “No! Don’t answer simple things like that are boring!” He thought for a moment. “You aren’t from here so either you are here to sell me something or you’re trying to pick a fight~” He grinned. “I’m right, aren’t I~?”
“If you think I am going to play nice with a brat like you just because Judal said so, You are mistaken. The fallen knight hissed upon being placed in the prince’s by none other than the magi he was referring to. This was stupid. He wanted to go to Sindria and make them pay for forgetting about him and leaving him to be tormented by Kou’s magi until breaking point... not babysit some obnoxiously pink kid. Or kill off Judal. He’d rather do that too.
{] Because apparently I can't stop myself from making angst and tormenting myself. Anyway, this is basically the end of xhecate's 'see you on the other side' drabble, except from Kirito's POV. It also branches into another verse which will only ever be drabbles (and has earned the title of holding 'the most fucked up Kirito ever', by tamashi-to-ken). It's not that good and it's kind of rushed, I'm sorry for being a shit writer. [}
“Let her go.”
That's what I demanded. I don't know why I even bothered to believe I could trust that damn <<Red Player>>, but I did anyway. Perhaps it was because I was desperate, desperate to save her, so much so I couldn't even think properly.
And it would be that desperateness that cost me everything.
"---------- !!!"
Blank. The mind and eyes blank out for a moment. One second ago I had both my swords pointed towards the enemy, and then suddenly he was gone, and my dual blades rested next to me. What.. Happened.. ? Sinon is.. in my arms, glowing, slowly fading away. That.. means.. that.. she's..
| No. Oh dear god, no. |
"Sinon!"
| I failed. I failed again. She’s dying. Oh god no, no. Please, no no no no no—— |
I could barely speak. Tears were forming within my eyes and I could only sit and stare in terror. She could tell I was scared, and I could tell she was as well.
"It’s okay. It’s okay."
No, no it isn’t. It’s not, it’s not okay at all. I’m going to be alone.. No, she’s going to be alone. I can’t let that happen to her.
"Promise me you’ll beat this game, Kirito."
That doesn’t matter! ..it doesn’t matter. What fucking purpose do I have to do so!?!? Please, oh god please..
"Sino-"
"Promise me."
Tears roll down my cheeks as my brain burns and begins to fade. Like Sachi, I promised her she’d love, and that I’d protect her. But, just like back then..
I failed.
How can I promise her? I don’t have any reason to beat this game. Not without her.
| |
“I promise.”
I say, not even realizing what I had just said. In that moment, one half shatters and disappears. The brain is dying, and like her, I can’t save it. Though, before the last half can delete itself, I see her smile. A gorgeous smile. The greatest smile she has ever given, and what I can consider the most cruel and beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. How I wish to scream until I can no longer breathe, or to cry until I drown in my own tears.. But now that I too, am dying, I can not.
"See you on the other side."
Then it happened. She was gone. Her body was fading just a second ago, but now it had shattered and disappeared. Blue polygons floated threw the sky as my body froze. Eyes widened and stared off in horror as the last few shards faded.

no. |
Those last moments are coded into my body and mind, giving this machine it's final goals. With her smile still within, the brain dies. It, as well as myself, dies and fades away forever. Kirito is killed and replaced by a machine that shares his name. Kazuto Kirigaya dies as well, never to return to the world he used to live in. Whatever humanity there was is gone and replaced by emptiness.
" "
It says nothing. All it is thinking about is what it must do now and how it will accomplish it's goals. Soon, the machine stands, cogs in motion as it begins it's final actions: avenge and clear.
That’s right. Become stronge, avenge her, then clear the game. My mind that is hollow does not tell me that, rather, the machine knows to do this, and will not let any obstacle get in its way. This machine is broken, and can never be fixed. It grabs the <<Elucidator>> and the <<Remains Heart>>, walking off to begin the first step in accomplishing it's missions.
