It had to be Beach City, didn’t it? Lapis didn’t think think of the question in a bitter manner. When Malachite broke apart and she was forced back into her gem, she could have washed ashore anywhere...but fate would only let her wind back up here again. Back to the home of the Crystal Gems...and Steven...
She scanned the beach with a resigned expression. The boardwalk was in the distance to her left, the temple much closer and to her right. She was afraid to see him again...she didn’t want to face him after her failure. She turned her back to the city and temple, wings emerging, ready to get out of here and try to find Jasper.
