It had to be Beach City, didn’t it?  Lapis didn’t think think of the question in a bitter manner.  When Malachite broke apart and she was forced back into her gem, she could have washed ashore anywhere...but fate would only let her wind back up here again.  Back to the home of the Crystal Gems...and Steven...

She scanned the beach with a resigned expression.  The boardwalk was in the distance to her left, the temple much closer and to her right.  She was afraid to see him again...she didn’t want to face him after her failure.  She turned her back to the city and temple, wings emerging, ready to get out of here and try to find Jasper.

It was always interesting, messing with the taller gem. Teasing her was always a fun thing to do, though she couldn’t exactly do that when Pearl was sleeping, could she? She wasn’t even sure when she fell asleep, all Amethyst knew was that she entered the room and spotted her like this.

The shorter one simply sat down in front of the other, cross-legged, deciding to watch and see if anything exciting happened. Maybe she’d dream about something wild and crazy. Amethyst was counting on it, this was her entertainment for most of the night! Everyone else inside was asleep too, and they couldn’t project their dreams through their gems...
