“I’m not mad you know. We’re best friends through and through, forever and always, and even something like this… couldn’t ever make me hate you.” Sting gave a wide grin to the person before him with blood rolling from the corners of his mouth. Granted his vision was blurry and he was losing pretty much all feeling, he knew who was right in front of him. He knew his killer very well. Not many can say that their killer was their best friend. He doubted Rogue was even listening to his words at this point. His shadow seemed to have complete control but the white dragon could only hope some shred of the Rogue he knew was about to hear him knowing if he didn’t, then Rogue would never forgive himself. Sting didn’t want a future for Rogue of complete and utter self-loathing. With what little breath he had left, he breathed out,
“I’m just sorry I couldn’t be the light to chase away your darkness.”
Sometimes, there are people you see and you just know you’re going to get along with each other. You just know that you’ll be the best of friends. Sting wasn’t one to believe in fate or destiny or that kind of shit, but he did believe in bonds, and he sure as hell had plenty of them. Except for one he had always felt there being a connection, but one never made. And that one person’s name was Rogue. Sting had practically known Rogue since preschool. That’s even longer than he knew his best friend, Rufus, for. Trust him, Sting made plenty of attempts to get to know the dark haired male, but each and every single time, Rogue shot him down, pushed him away, treated him like dirt, rejected him like a cheerleader shoots down the geeky main character in those cheesy, cliché high school movies.
Now, Sting was finally a senior at Fiore High School. It was his last year in this… as he put it, hell hole. He was ready to get out of school and jump into the adult world, but first, he made it his senior mission to make Rogue give in and become his friend. Or maybe just at least give him a smile. Or maybe just even not be alone all the time. This was the year he was going to do it.
‘I don’t get why you even try.’
‘He clearly doesn’t want any friends.’
‘Didn’t we try this last year? Didn’t he actually beat you up until you cried?’
“Okay, I wasn’t crying first of all I just had dust in my eye! Second of all, perseverance is one of my many, many charms!” Sting shot his friends a glare. Sure, they would give up, but Sting wasn’t. Rogue didn’t deserve to be alone and push people away. Sting just wanted to be his friend, so why couldn’t Rogue see that? Why couldn’t they be friends?
With a deep breath, he abandoned his group of friends and set a smile on his face and began to run and wave to Rogue as he entered school grounds. “Yo! Good morning, Rogue!”
