The moon was at its zenith, so high in the sky that though mankind would wish to grab it, they would realize the folly of such a wish. Look how far away the moon is, they would say. It would take more than a simple ladder to reach it! The night was illuminated by the moon’s gentle light, the sun’s counterpart doing an admirable job of preventing the world from tumbling into total darkness. Yet despite its efforts, not a single creature was awake to enjoy its splendor and beauty. Everyone was asleep, yet if one were awake to gaze upon the Joestar Manor, they would have noticed a flickering light in one of the windows.
“Useless!” Dio seethed under his breath as he tossed another book into the already large pile. Nothing. He had found nothing! All of his searching, all of his patience... And he was no closer to making his discovery then when he had started! He had pored through every damn book Lord Joestar had in his library, a vast collection to be sure, but none of them contained the knowledge he sought! None of them described Irene’s mysterious power...
Dio held back the urge to punch the wall. It wouldn’t do to wake someone up at this hour, as he should have been in bed long ago. He couldn’t let his anger get the better of him... But two years! Two years of searching and it was all for nothing! He bit back another cry of anger as something caught his ears. Some vague noise, emanating from the hall. Someone else was up, and Dio intended to find out who.
