Paeris sighed as he turned around and picked the woman up in his arms. He was certain she would protest, but he insisted on caring for her. It had always been that way. It was why he had given up his royal standing to follow her out to sea. Nothing would change that, even if she didn’t reciprocate his feelings. He found that there were more important things for her to focus on than on furthering their relationship. “Come on, captain. Don’t be a martyr. I can easily get us both back in plenty of time,” he huffed.

Paeris was irritated with the situation. He almost wished that he had avoided saving the princess. She was proving to be more trouble than she was worth. Unfortunately for him, his crew had a bit of savior complexes and convinced him that if they saved her from the murder attempt by their rival pirate crew, they would be greatly rewarded in the end. The only problem was that they couldn’t manage to get her back to her kingdom safely. They had spent weeks going in circles, dodging the rival pirate ship and having to find safe ports to dock in and get supplies without risk of the princess either escaping or getting kidnapped. 

He decided that today was the day that he would take matters into his own hands. He knocked on the door of the room that they had kept her in, which only the first mate and he had the keys to. “I come baring dinner if you’re hungry,” he said as he let himself in.
