"Happy White Day, Yuu." Yamikumo has brought Yuu a homemade white chocolate and raspberry cake. He's also brought her a small bouquet of white hyacinths and a single pink camellia.
If she had to be honest, Yuu actually might’ve forgotten all about White Day, the day where Valentine’s Day receiver get the opportunity to reciprocate the gift-giver’s feelings. Since she’s never given a Valentine’s gift before this year, it just never held any importance for her to remember.
So when Yamikumo approached her with his White Day greetings, gifts and all, the gesture alone threw Yuu in for one hell of a loop. Right. They’re dating. And she gave him a Valentine’s Day gift, too.
Yuu accepted the small bouquet first, holding it a little too dearly against her chest to where the flowers looked ready to suffocate. Her eyes sparkled just admiring the cake, sensing a hint of homemade air that she’d be able to recognize all too well. Part of her wondered if the two of them could maybe have a baking day together. Then again, maybe she could suggest it another time. Right now, there was cake to be eaten, and what better way than to eat it with the person you love?
“Ah, uh- w-wait, let me get us forks!”With her face still brightly flushed, Yuu hastily scrambled over to her drawers next to the mini-fridge, letting Yami in to wait at her table all the while. She pulled out two plastic forks from her stash of disposable silverware along with a plastic knife. Once the drawers were closed, she eagerly shuffled over on her knees to join her boyfriend at her table.
Needless to say, Yuu was enamored with Yamikumo’s White Day present. They got to eat cake together, and have a pleasant conversation about the cake’s recipe or where Yami got the flowers or even suggestions on baking together... At some point, there was even a moment where Yuu decided to playfully boop some frosting on Yami’s nose. Obviously, that escalated into a frosting-fight, but all-in-all, love and laughter seemed to fill the air. It was the first time Yuu felt openly honest with herself, showing Yamikumo how much she enjoyed their time together and how much all the little signs of physical affection meant to her.
At the end of it all, once everything---and everyone---got cleaned up, Yuu felt a massive desire to express her gratitude to Yamikumo. Her face was flushed, and her behavior had gone sheepish, but Yuu eventually wrapped her arms around the back of Yamikumo’s neck to pull him into a hug.She gently pressed foreheads together with him, if just to gaze into his eyes with a sweet, subtle smile.
“Yami.. thank you. I really enjoyed your gifts.”
A second of hesitation passed, and she finally leaned in to close the gap between their lips. Soft, subtle, gentle and swift. She really hoped from the bottom of her heart that it wasn’t going too far, and yet, it just felt so right.
“I love you... I really do.”
