My team Apparition on Toast sometimes do the 48 hour film competition. Here's a scene from this year's one "Insomnodrol", a parody of a scene from American Psycho

"Confessions of a Killer"

This team is pretty famous around V48 hours Christchurch, all his work he does by himself and two years ago he won the city final only using plastic army men. He also shot a film on his iPhone from South Africa last year if the rumours are true...

Won Best Art Direction in Christchurch and is nominated for the same at the national level.

"A Series of Unlikely Events"

A Monty Pythonesque film that was quite amusing. It's also filmed at Castle Hill which is one place I'd love to go and photograph!

This won Best Use of Line ("What have you got?") in Christchurch and is nominated for the same nationally.

"I'd Tap That"

Alright, so this one doesn't have as much of a story arc as some of the others, but the sound design is enough to make me drool. Plus when else do you get to see a movie being made about tap dancing in 48 hours?

It won "sexiest short" in Christchurch and is nominated for it nationally.

"Finding Richard" is the best film I've seen from the High School teams (it was the winner in the Christchurch final). It's not perfect, but there's something I really like about it. Nominated for best High School team nationally as well.

"Cornchip"

I loved this one! The post work on it was epic. It won best Editing at the Christchurch finals and is nominated for the national one as well :)

Last week I went to the Christchurch V48 hours finals and most of the films were fantastic. Makes our effort look very, very small in comparison.

Over the next few days I'll be posting some of my favourite shorts, so keep your eyes out!

"Back Pay" is of my favourites from the heats, and overall. Really, really well written script. Plus, I used to work with the bully character. It won best All-female team (had to have women as the director, producer and writer) for Christchurch and is nominated for the same award nationally.
