Aaand I’ve officially had the first dose of my Covid vaccine 💉🥳!! Best day of the year!! I was in and out of my GP surgery in 15 minutes and it didn’t hurt at all. I may feel flu-like over the next day or so (which tbh I can get with a normal flu vaccine) but so far I’m fine. My arm doesn’t even hurt (although my perception of pain is rather skewed 😂)! I had the Oxford AstraZeneca version of the vaccine. I had the absolute loveliest nurse; she told me my rainbow outfit and my attitude was a ray of sunshine ☀️🥰 and when my dad told her I’d been on BBC this morning, she told me she’d “look out for my ray of sunshine” 😭🥰 She also told me how much she loves giving Covid vaccines to patients; she said every patient acts as if they’re getting the best Christmas present ever, and seeing so many people so happy and hopeful after a tough year makes her happy 😭🥰💛 Plus she told me the worst fainters during vaccines are all the big tough men covered in tattoos 😂 We got a Costa from the drive through on the way home to celebrate 🎉 and I was so excited I immediately announced to the drive through guy I’d just had my vaccine 😂! Don’t quite have the words to tell you how glad and grateful I am this day has fun come. It’s a long road to get Covid under control, and it’ll be a long while til I can stop shielding, but this is the first glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been struggling with lockdown and isolation the last few weeks; today I feel hopeful again ☀️💛 Please, please get the vaccine if you can.
