the citadel arc in clone wars is awesome. i love anakin and tarkin flirting, i love obi-wan’s fatherly/older brotherly disapproval as he tells anakin he doesn’t like his new boyfriend. 10/10 gay drama, wish we’d gotten to see more of it

vadarkin is the ship of all time. they have everything. they had love at first sight. they had a meetcute. they're friends to lovers. they're having a secret affair on top of anakin's already secret marriage. palpatine tried to set them up and was disappointed that they didn't seem to get on like he planned. they had a divorce arc. they have a dramatic reunion. tarkin recognized anakin under the mask by his eyes and his body language alone. presumably they had a dramatic 'i know what you are' scene at some point, but if not then dear g-d these two just mutually understood without even talking about it about anakin being vader, and how tarkin doesn't need to say it for vader to know that he knows. they both want to hunt each other for sport, and did. they are both suicidal in extremely different ways. they're two of the most fucked up people in the empire and they're THE healthiest relationship either of them has ever or did ever have. they have a beauty and the beast motif in which they are both the beauty and the beast. i could go on.

I-I-I just saw someone say Tarkin didn't like the Death Star and only wanted it built because Palpatine did. Because he said certain things in Rogue One and Rebels.

Project Stardust is Tarkin's BABY. His baby. The Tarkin novel was all about how frustrated he was about delays and how he couldn't control everything and Vader seeing how much he had thought everything through voiced that he should be THE person in command even though Vader himself was against the project.

Even to the point when he was with Thrawn, Palpatine could feel he Vader wanted Thrawn to make a point about the Death Star so they could argue over it. He wanted to defend Tarkin's project to a random Grand Admiral and no one who hadn't read the Tarkin novel would truly understand the undercurrents there. Vader doesn't give a shit about the Death Star. He gives a shit about Tarkin and his passions. He cares a lot, maybe too much, about Tarkin.' Vader doesn't give a shit about the Death Star. But the point is, even as the person in charge, Tarkin couldn't stop the delays so he knew to publicly keep his distance. Appoint a scape goat, so when things went wrong-Krennic took the blame. While he and Vader knew-when things went right, they would be on that battle station. It was a cutthroat game of politics.

Amazing that years after Rogue One people still don't get it. Stardust is Tarkin's baby. Vader supports it largely cause of Tarkin, he tolerates it cause of Palpatine.
