Conch stood at the base of Cinnabar’s thrown, tapping away at holoscreens like normal. There were guests coming, so things had to be finalized early today so they could devote the most of their shared energy and attention to their guest, like a good host would. @the-perfect-dark

Ok! Here's a pretty vague/rambly starter/drabble I wrote so we could plug in any canon characters or OCs we like! I'm looking to write gay dudes or QPPs (+angst +drama), and I'm 30+ so please be at least 25+ to reply, preferably older! I'll link a list of canon ships and RP tropes I like asap!

Plot: think something like Marvel's X-Men, except our characters are captured as adults because of their superhero (or villain) abilities and imprisoned. They will probably try to escape and go on the run together? But who wanted them captured, and why? How far will they go? Will it be m/c and y/c against the world, or will they turn on each other under all the pressure?

A pale blue sky streaked with the bright pink and orange of a sunset's afterglow reflected on the faces of every captive in the yard through tall double fences, tops lined with razor wire. It was late spring somewhere M/C guessed to be something like South Carolina, because this was such an intensely hot spring and he assumed they were still in the US, but of course they had been knocked out and blindfolded for the trip here and he had no way of really knowing.

He stood near huge clumps of sweet smelling honeysuckle where it weaved through the outer fence- only the inner fence was electrified. Beyond the outer fence was deep, rich green forest and brush, more greenery than he had ever seen. He felt like a tiger could leap out of the thick forest and rattle the cage, that this was probably one of the last places in the country wooded enough for large animals to hide.

Large animals, such as humans, though him and the other captives were referred to by the guards as "mutateds" and "freaks of nature." But weren't they still human?

He gave y/c a wry look, not so much directed at y/c as at the situation, silently commiserating with him. They had been prisoners for what- two weeks now? It didn't seem like long in any other circumstance, but being caged *changed* things. People were still acting civilized, for the most part, the majority of their group weren't hardened criminals, but being kept under lock and key was wearing on their spirits. It made m/c ache with a kind of tiredness he hadn't felt in a long time.

"It's a nice evening," m/c said suggestively, itching for a jailbreak. Then, lowering his voice to a whisper in y/c's ear, "what if we escaped?" Something about the sunset, the sweet smell in the air, and the relief of a cool evening after a hot spring day made m/c particularly desperate for freedom. He swore he could feel it in the other prisoners, too, and he could hardly contain himself.

Kage comments out of the blue, just a few days shy of something seemingly dreadful. He can tell she seems a little on edge. Usually, he feels like he can talk to her about anything, and he feels she can do the same with him. But right now, it doesn't feel so much like she's hiding something so much as she's...avoiding something.

The soup sits between them, home-made, oversalted. He expected something like a tease, a deflection over resignation to consume it. This might be the first time nothing's stated.

He pushes his bowl away from himself to rest his arm on the table, looking her over, trying to...piece something out.

"You seem far away right now. Are you here with me, Rainer? Where'd you go?"
