Haha I’m somewhere in the middle – I find the angsty lifespan/giving the baby up/dark past speculations a bit tiresome, but I also do not think he has ever properly processed his trauma. (and given how things have been going for the mandos recently… might be more there than what we’ve seen yet) But then the whole show feels like a mostly optimistic trauma recovery narrative where he’s finally able to make some lasting bonds with people, so maybe that helps me there lol
Oh, clearly I have blown it if I sounded like I thought he’d processed that noise. Nothing I’ve seen so far of the culture of the Mandalorians around him or the life he’s living really seems to present the necessary ingredients for THAT, you know? I just think that in the last couple decades he’d worked himself into a place where he rarely had to confront that trauma, you know? Kinda...encapsulated it, not so figuratively. Which is obviously changing fast now. But I totally agree that the show feels overall like the sort of story where determination and persistence and caring ultimately get the job done.

WHAT IF, for parts of the game, daddy ryder thinks his kids died when one of the arcs blew up and it makes him go a little off the rails. meanwhile bro and sis ryder are running around the galaxy trying to find him like 'DAD WE'RE OKAY STOP GOING ALL ROARING RAMPAGE OF REVENGE ON THESE PEOPLE'. (at this point I *need* some kind of emotional hook to latch on to, since there's very little story content in the trailers lol)
I’m quite late in responding to this, very sorry :[ at this point we know a bit more and it doesn’t look like that scenario is the case to me, but something definitely happens to Alec (temporary, or permanent..) so that Ryder becomes Pathfinder, their sibling is out of commission for a while due to issue with cryo (don’t think that’s a spoiler exactly? that info predates the lift of the embargo) and beyond those two things I’m full on expecting some further emotionally intense or draining family drama. its a bioware game after all.. lol, ur url is apt.. Concerned indeed
with having seen more, do you feel more emotionally invested now? I hope so ^^ doubtless there will be something, BW are always good with the feels side of things. aah.. Dad Plotlines are always the death of me.

I always think about doppelganger for this one actually - literally everyone else: evil!clone sheppard threatens or actively tries to MURDER them Rodney: “but what if John is just pretending to be my friend and actually thinks I’m weak and stupid and doesn’t like me tho :(” (tho trinity is probably the moment he realizes HOW important john’s trust was to him, having lost it, extremely good point haha)

at the VERY least there’s a lot of emotional vulnerability stuff going on there – you get the sense that john is one of the few people rodney genuinely just wants to *like* him; normally he’s more concerned with people respecting his intellect even if they don’t like him personally, but I think he respects john pretty much from the start and wants something *more* even if he can’t verbalize it. john not actually liking him is literally his worst nightmare!!! D:D:D:

I definitely feel like he wants John to like him. I feel like Trinity is really all you need to prove that? Rodney messed up and John was mad at him, and Rodney tracked him down to apologize. He looked so sad at the end.
