Grimulf was not one to pass up on helping another being, he was hard wired that way.
He'd thought her to be dead at first glance, roughed up and injured by the elements wrath, clearly she'd been through a harrowing journey.
Soon, her words of gratitude hit him where it counted, straight to the heart, causing it to clench. So she could speak? And she had just thanked a hilichurl? This was something that rarely transpired towards him and his kind.
He spoke, divulging he was like no other hilichurl that ever dared to exist. His words held a heavy reverence that complimented his deep, raspy octave. ❝ You're welcome. ❞
Not one to startle her, he remained by her side. A towering sentinel safeguarding the area while she gathered herself. He did however watch her secure a vessel to hold water and begin a process he'd not witnessed before. Using water to heal her injuries, directing it in a manner he doubted few upon this spinning rock would ever have mastered. It was like she was one with the water. Articulating the ancient language of healing on an entirely different level, it was a marvel to witness.
Grimulf was peering down at her intently when she looked up at him causing him to startle initially, his ears stiffened with surprise and he blurted out the answer. ❝ Teyvat, more specifically Liyue. ❞
Her question confirmed she was not a local being. He'd never laid eyes upon one such as she, however he was intrigued. ❝ Can you stand? Walk? To be honest, this isn't the best place to be since it's nearing dusk and out in the open, it's risky. If you need me to, I can carry you or help you. My camp is hidden and not that far from here, there you can rest, eat and recoup. ❞
" P... pr... " He wiggles with the aim to free his pack, and himself, from its position. On his way to explore the Zora Domain, he managed to tumble down a big, rocky hill. Which usually wouldn't be an issue... but this pretty... Zora woman seemingly came to help.

For the first time in an eternity, Pit experiences a fleeting moment of authentic happiness in Hyrule's vast and often somber land. This joy, however, is a rare and precious gem amidst the looming shadows of the impending Calamity. He mustn't forget his role as Palutena's Captain, even in these brief moments. Yet, he can't help but be Pit, the friend, the champion… He's aware that he's deceiving himself and everyone else, allowing the illusion of belonging to their group to take hold.
The Captain was pleasantly surprised when Mipha agreed to spend time together. Their bond, which had grown stronger amidst the tribulations of battle, had come a long way since their first meeting. The Captain had humbly asked the Zora Princess if he could accompany her on a tour of Vah Ruta, the Divine Beast she was destined to pilot. Both Champions cherished every moment of the day, starting with a rigorous training session in the morning, followed by a gratifying dinner with Mipha's father and younger brother. As the day drew close, they found themselves alone on top of Vah Ruta, watching the breathtaking sunset. Pit presented two goblets filled with a bottled beverage gifted to him by Urbosa earlier that week.
"I'll help you conquer her."
EPIC: The Musical
That single sentence alone was enough to make Captain Pit's blood freeze, let alone his heart skipping a beat out of the sheer terror overcoming him from Mipha's careless words. Despite his fear, he reacted with lightning speed, propelled by a surge of adrenaline, pinning Mipha against the wall, his strong hand covering her mouth to stifle any more words that could potentially cause further harm. His eyes, wide with panic and urgency, locked with hers, conveying the gravity of the situation and the need for silence and cooperation.
In the land where he hailed from, there was a cautionary tale of a foolish mortal who dared to claim that they were more beautiful than Aphrodite. The consequences of such audacity were severe, for it invoked the wrath of the Olympian, a goddess not to be trifled with. The Captain of Angels was well aware of the Champion's good intentions but understood that this was a battle she could not emerge victorious from—a conflict best left unprovoked, a wisdom born of experience.
And you say what you need to say And you play who you need to play
And if somebody's in your way Crush them and leave them behind
"I love you..."
Eyes cast down, she finally looks up, meeting his gaze with sorrow pouring from her golden hues.
"...But not in the way that you want me to.."
Captain Pit had always held a mirror to his soul, perceiving a reflection that bore the marks of vanity and arrogance. He was not just prideful; he was a celestial being, bathed in the warm glow of his self-importance and accustomed to having his whims catered to by those around him. This inflated sense of self was particularly pronounced in romance, where his confidence often clouded his judgment.
He had always believed that Mipha, the graceful and formidable Zora Princess, could harbor feelings for him if given the chance. Especially after that night…
As they gathered at their usual rendezvous atop Vah Rutah, her majestic Divine Beast, Pit felt a surge of optimism. Here, in the tranquil embrace of the clouds and the gentle splash of water below, he envisioned their connection blossoming into something profound. They had shared countless moments, laughter intertwining with their conversations, and Pit had convinced himself that they were growing closer. He was unaware, perhaps willfully so, of how misplaced that confidence indeed was.
"I love you..."
"You do?"
"...But not in the way that you want me to.."
But then came her words, sharp as a well-honed blade, shattering his daydreams into a thousand jagged pieces. Despite his genuine efforts to unveil the tender layers of his heart and share vulnerabilities he had long buried, Mipha’s heart remained true to someone else.
In that moment, he grappled with the depth of his own flaws. The shimmering façade he had clad himself in began to crumble within himself, revealing the raw, aching truth beneath. His heart, heavy with the weight of unreciprocated feelings, twisted painfully between the sting of rejection and the bitter realization that his connection to the Champions, his friendship with them, was built on illusions. He fell for his own tricks in the grand scheme to fool them all.
"Mipha-icus, if I pushed you or came on too strong or ambushed you for that, I'll say I was wrong-"
"-But I'm not sorry for loving you."
This partnership had been a fragile tapestry woven together by his misconceptions and fantasies. The revelation struck him harder than any foe he had ever faced on the battlefield, leaving him at a crossroads where he had to confront his shortcomings and the reality of his loneliness in a world filled with friendships. These bonds transcended more than just survival but genuine kindness and goodness.
He was grateful to feel a part of that, even for a moment. The least he could do was remain honest to Mipha one last time.

Zelda had been excitedly rambling as she and Mipha explored Vah Ruta together. With the Sheikah Slate in hand, her attention had been on the displayed map they'd unlocked as she'd pointed out all the features she could see. She hadn't even noticed how close Mipha was to her until the Zora princess' shadow crossed the screen of the slate and, as Zelda lifted her head, she found Mipha's lips pressed firmly against hers.
She nearly dropped the slate in surprise, but managed to catch it by the handle before she brought her arms around Mipha's waist, giving a gentle kiss in return.
"Was I talking too much?" Zelda asked as she broke the kiss.
