In "And..." Val said she was orphaned at 3 and raised by an ex-con (a prison inmate????)

Okay first of all what could she have possibly done to get imprisoned 😭

And second, in her introduction, she said her parents liked to call her Margaret Mary Houlihan... Which she might've lied at that too to seem cool, OR she got adopted. It was never said she was adopted in any way... And another thing, did Val really lied to Zach when she said "I kissed the folks goodbye"?

We'll never know, really. But I like to think she got in a foster home of some sort.

what i did for love is beautiful because asking what ifs is stupid. like, asinine, idiotic, silly, redundant. enjoy the time that you've got when you're doing something you love because there's no use asking the what ifs: you don't know what you'll do until it happens. and asking those questions just takes out the time that you'll get to do those things.

that being said i think that val goes into body positivity advocacy, sheila, maggie and bebe all work in sectors that engage kids with rough family backgrounds with dance, mark becomes close friends with val, takes her advice re. acting, becomes a triple threat and eventually plays riff in west side story, and judy probably makes it big on primetime tv somehow. that's all i can think of right now I'll add to this later but anyways THE POINT IS!! don't ask silly questions

valerie clarke's life is shakily constructed atop facades and lies and self-deception: her physical source of pride is the result of a few carefully done injections, she plays pretend for a living, and even her name was conceived in contempt of the one her parents gave her. everything about val is fabricated and i wonder if that ever caught up/catches up to her sometimes, when she's whirling around an audition room and seeing people with dance cards that read 'dance: 5 looks: 10' get cast. i wonder if she's okay, and i wonder if she'd like a hug.

Ah yes, the role I never thought I’d play in a million years

I LOVE HER. She’s so much fun and I personally have No Freakin Clue how to do this but gosh darn it I’m gonna try

She says exactly what’s on her mind (which is why I’m so bummed that the high school edition has me saying “I don’t care about the red shoes” etc) and you can tell that she’s also a genuinely caring person (“don’t let em get to you honey”) also the way she talks is adorable

I can’t wait to get to know her!!!
