D4veocracy #1-4 - IDW Comics
By Ryan Ferrier & Valentin Ramon
These issues make up volume 3 of an over-arching D4ve series - that I haven’t really gone searching for. Met the writer/creator once. Great guy! Totally sold me on these comics, which is why I picked them up.
During the middle of my graduate school career. Which is why I put them down. That was fortunately just over two years ago, so this might mean I’m catching up on my comics. 30 a week for the next two years should get me there, right?
Whatever the comics/week ratio is, I finally read D4veocracy. D4ve, our presumable hero, is a robot. Everyone is a robot. The 34rth is a super-computer-robot. Everyone talks like a meme. They obliterated all humans on a molecular level. There are a few trees, but are those even real?
The president of 34rth starts the scene assassinated, and D4ve, our hallucinating president, announces his candidacy as, what I presume is the villain is born. This villain? A living version of the internet named S4m. The internet was downloaded as his “cognizance,” and his memes are dank.
S4m and D4ve have a final showdown to save the world from the Internet, Google, and fascism. S4m - Uncle Sam? - is a blatant foil for Donald Trump. Make 4meric4 great again, his people shout! It’s obvious what this is for, but D4ve gives the penultimate sacrifice for the 34rth he believes in. It’s an epic showdown of murder, anarchy, and futuristic meme graffiti.
A fun read, and one I recommend for someone who wants something silly and about robots. It’s a simple premise - all biological life is destroyed, and robots are just emulating us - so it boils down to just an action/adventure story, but with robots and super computers. It’s a great sci-fi story.
REVIEW: D4veocracy #4
The 34rth stands on the brink of destruction. Seizing the presidency for himself, S4m has set all the robots connected to Dud3r to anarchy mode. The robot one-percenters are draining all the robots’ power to their reserves to make themselves richer. 5cotty and Br4d have broken up. Only one robot can bring the world back from the brink. Unfortunately that is D4ve. Is there somebody else we can…

From the acclaimed creative team of D4VE, D4VE2, and HOT DAMN!
With the internet now coursing through his circuits, S4M makes his public debut as a presidential candidate. Meanwhile, D4VE’s campaign trail gets rough when scandal rocks his public image, forcing the planet to choose a side. But for app developer bro GL3NN, world domination might be just a click away.

Ryan Ferrier and Valentin Ramon are back with D4VEOCRACY, the third arc of the acclaimed D4VE series. In the wake of a robo-political assassination, D4VE begins a presidential campaign. A hip new app startup has other plans for the robot society, however, and creates the perfect political rival.

Hot Damn TPB is a Hell of a Good Time
Writer: Ryan Ferrier Illustrator: Valentin Ramon Publisher: IDW Publishing
Hot Damn is blasphemous, disgusting, offensive and an absolute blast. It is definitely not for children or even teens in my opinion. You may also want to dissuade your zealously born again Aunt Tracy from picking up a copy. You might want to keep it away from your Grandma. Don’t mention it in front of Pastor Rick. You know…
