--- His head was pounding against his skull, as if his brains were about to explode. All of the extra stress this task-force brought to his life didn’t seem like it was going away soon. But, Santi kept acting like everything was fine--it was something he’d learned with the best: his father. He could only truly worry about things he could control, right? Taking a deep breath, he pinched the bridge of his nose as the waitress stopped by and poured more water into his glass. “Thank you Lydia.” He replied, without even raising his gaze. Lydia had been serving him coffee ever since he was in the police academy, and then, once she moved to Sirens, he followed her... so, if there was something that had never changed, was her scent.
Speaking of scents, there was a familiar one that got mixed with the salty wind that came through the windows. One that caused Santiago to raise his head and watch the door, waiting to be noticed by his lunch date. Santiago raised his hand as an attempt to catch her attention and when Valentina approached him, he stood up from his seat. “Hey you.” He hugged her, gently, before offering the seat across from his, before sitting down again. “How are you doing? Any residual pain from the shifting?”
