I`M DEAD!! they have a mini mirrorball trophy for the baby !!
We’re back with another edition from our YOUinspireUS Campaign!!
This week we’d like to introduce you to a young girl who we look up to.. She was originally inspired by one of our company founders and it led her to achieve her goals and inspire others to achieve theirs ... At only 15 years old this young girl knows what she wants, and we have no doubt she’s going to get it!
Her name is Jill Fine, and this is her story!
What are your goals? Why did you set them?
My goals are to live a healthier lifestyle. Growing up overweight since I was about 9 years old wasn’t easy. I always knew I was different from most of the girls my age. I was never comfortable with who I was. I hated going out in public because I didn’t want people to look at me. There’s nothing more uncomfortable than being starred at when you are walking around town. I was often called “Fat Girl," or pretty much anything with the word “Fat” in front of it. It hurt so bad to be called names because of my appearance. You never get those words out of your head. When I looked in the mirror, all I could see and hear was people calling me names. It was so hard for me because I would just get so upset. School was such a struggle because I knew kids made fun of me. I was so unhappy with who I was for so long and I held in my emotions because I didn’t want anyone to know I was hurting. I was living such an unhealthy lifestyle for myself, it wasn’t fair to me anymore. When you are almost 200 pounds at 15 years old, It really makes you realize a lot. Food caused so much damaged to my body and I couldn’t let that happen any more. I was done with the person I used to be. I was ready for a change and that is why I set goals to live a healthier lifestyle. In November it will mark a year since I started to set goals for myself. Without setting goals for myself, I wouldn’t have lost 65 pounds all on my own, I wouldn’t have motivation to workout everyday, I wouldn’t have the motivation for anything. Setting goals helped me so much because I always wanted to complete my goals and thats exactly what I did. I will forever keep setting goals for myself to live a healthier lifestyle because I never want to go back to the person I was a year ago today!
How have you influenced the community around you? When you started did you aim to impact others?
I feel that I've influenced by community by inspiring them to make a change in their life or help them get motivated to workout or live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone in my town always knew what I was before and probably never expected to see me the way I am today because I never even expected to see myself this way! I never thought that I would have an impact on anyone else because when I started my weight loss journey, I was doing it for myself not for anyone else. Im 15 years old, never would I think that I would be an inspiration to so many people around me. Its crazy to think like that because I used to be the overweight girl who had no clue about anything health related and I really didn’t care about anything I care about now! I actually started a blog on Facebook called “Do It Like Jill” and I feel like thats where most of my impact on my community is coming from. I post a lot about my struggles and my journey on there so it allows readers from my community to get a sense of what I really went through.
Tell us what makes you unique?
I think what makes me unique is my story. My story makes me unique because I took a struggle of mine and found ways to fix my struggle and change my life for the better. Losing weight was always a struggle for me. I never ever thought I would lose 65 pounds all on my own. I never thought it was possible because I was so negative towards losing weight. I was told for a long time that I needed to lose weight but I took it as a joke because I didn’t care. But the minute you step on the scale and see a number you don’t like, that’s when you start to care and that’s how I started to care. I think what also makes my story so unique is that I made this change all on my own. I didn’t go on any crazy diet or weightless program. I did it my way. Doing it my way was the best way for me because I knew exactly what I needed to do. I didn’t let anything ever get in my way because i became so focused and determined to become the person I am today. I’m the happiest I've ever been and my story really shows that with hard work and determination you can do what ever you want to do and you can achieve your goals! Even the goals you didn’t think were possible!
Long-term goals are rewarding but far more difficult to achieve because they don’t provide instant gratification. Would you attribute your long-term determination to, a person, place, or thing, to helping you stay focused day to day?
I feel that there were definitely people who helped me stay focused day to day and made this goal a lot easier to achieve. First off, Val Chmerkovskiy was someone who definitely helped me stay focus day to day. Val is just so passionate about everything he does and it made me want to find a passion and stick with it and my passion became living a healthier lifestyle and I honestly think that if I didn't have an inspiration like him, losing all this weight wouldn’t have been possible. I feel like if you want to have long-term determination you need to have confidence and I feel like I wouldn't have confidence without the help of my eighth grade English teacher, Mrs. Mak. I was always a person who was more shy and never really liked to speak in front of people or do anything in front of anybody. I always felt that I would make a fool of myself or say something wrong, but in her class I felt like I could be the person I truly was without making a fool of myself and she helped me find the confidence in myself that I thought I never had. Without her, I don't think I would have the confidence I have in myself today and I think my long-term determination wouldn't be as easy if I didn't have confidence. I also had my best friend Daniella who has been a nonstop support in me chasing my goals and has always stuck by my side. Lastly I have to thank my mom because without my mom I don't think I would have the determination I have today, so thank you mom!!
What’s next for you?!
I really just want to keep inspiring people and motivating people to help them make the change everyone deserves. I hope to do something one day where I can go around and talk to people and share my story to help inspire them! I have started a Page where people could go to seek inspiration, tips, and progress as well as a deeper look into my story! Its called DoItLikeJill, and you could find the Facebook page by clicking here .
What does VALENTINNICOLE mean to you?
VALENTINNICOLE to me means confidence and inspiration. VALENTINNICOLE helped me find my confidence in the clothing I wear and I just found so much inspiration throughout its clothes and brand.

We work to push ourselves forward every day, and we’re inviting you all to join us and do the same!! #ValenTeam
We are blessed that we have the opportunity to have such a direct communication with all of the people who support our brand and have joined the movement to take us ever further into the future. This gives us the chance to see exactly who really is an integral part of it all and who we do it for. It also allows us a very brief glimpse into the lives of those very people, the different things they are dealing with, and what they are doing for themselves and others.. That aspect of it is really the most incredible.
We’ve found that there are some pretty inspirational individuals showing us love… And we always want to show love back. The YOUinspireUS Campaign is all about the people who we’ve come across and are really doing something special. Our story reached them and may have even inspired them to go do the great things that they were capable of all along. But hearing these stories is what truly inspires us… We’d really love to share some of them with you here.
Meet Marissa.. She’s coming to us from Long Island, and she’s coming strong! A young women with enough energy to fill any room she enters. Having already dealt with so much, she has the incredible ability to remind those around her that sometimes its important to forget about the things we consider real problems and just effortlessly enjoy life just the way she does. Without further ado, lets get to a little chat we had…
Hey Marissa! What are your goals? Why did you set them?
First off, thank you so much for this opportunity! I've been so overwhelmed through this whole process from the kind words of family and friends, to being chosen to be a part of this campaign. I'm just trying to live my life to the fullest and "Push Past Paralysis" as I always say, so to know that I inspire so many people, including you guys at VALENTÍNNÌCOLE, is pretty mind blowing!
Oh my God, how much time do we have?! I have so many goals! Of course there is the cliché but meaningful goal of wanting to live on my own (hopefully soon), but my goals reach so much further than just that--there's so much left to do! To sum it up, it fits perfectly with this campaign. I aspire to inspire. I feel like an old soul that was sent here to show the world that the only thing that can truly stop you is your own mind.
I strive to overcome my own mind (we all have doubts sometimes) and stay positive in my everyday life by constantly challenging myself and trying new things (bucket list: to swim with dolphins!), staying physically active by working out, doing yoga and dancing, (and I do a lot of meditation), and just overall trusting the universe. In addition, I also love helping others through my life coaching, books, blogs and YouTube videos. It helps me stay accountable and focused toward my goals as well, which is also a goal in itself!
Ultimately, I want to open up a mind, body, spirit center where people with and without physical challenges can coexist and just have fun, be their healthiest in every way while getting away from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives, recharging, and taking with them a new perspective and outlook when they leave. Helping to turn this world into one, with more accessibility for all abilities and a universal design, would be a pretty awesome movement to be a part of as well! Another big goal is to change the language and categorizing of people with a physical challenge. I hate the words disabilities, disabled, handicapped, etc.—can't we all just say "physically challenged" or "I use a wheelchair"? And that's just when referring to disabilities—so many others are put in a small box with a label!
Wow, that sounds like an incredible idea.. You’ve got a whole lot planned! Achieving a goal is difficult. It takes intense self-motivation and will power, other times it’s the applause from the audience that motivates us to keep going. What drives you?
Self-motivation and will power are definitely at the top of the list of what drives me. Beyond that— facing obstacles, opposition and being told that I can't do something, whether it's by someone literally saying I can't, an opportunity just not being there, doors/phones slamming due to discrimination or someone scoffing just looking at the fact that I'm in a wheelchair and asking how it's even possible—that’s what really drives me. That's all just more motivation and fuel for me to do it and do it well; with or without the people I approach to help me do it.
Another huge motivation for me is that many people who have a physical challenge like I do (I won't generalize and say all people who have them feel this way) believe that they can't do so many things that they really could if only they believed in themselves. Whether their parents take the doctor's words as gospel and therefore don't encourage their child to even try to do basic, let alone challenging things, whether their peers or teachers convince them they can't or even a deep rooted fear within themselves that it'll never happen, they often buy into those lies and won't even try. I strive to show people that our only limitations are our own minds and we act or don't act based on what we believe we can and cannot do. There are ways around ALL obstacles.
My motivation also stems from my desire to do it for those who literally can't because they're no longer with us. Especially after losing my brother to suicide in August 2015, I've been reminded and made even more aware of how much of a gift every single day is, how blessed I am that my only obstacle is a physical challenge and how so many people struggle with so much worse. I would be cheating myself, others and God who took the time to create me if I took that gift for granted. I do it in honor of my brother who struggled for so long and couldn't find his happiness in life, especially after we lost our father in 2009 to leukemia and pneumonia. I just strive to make them both proud.
I must say though, my motivation would be nothing without the law of attraction bringing me amazing people like you. I could want something with all of my heart, but as much as I'm ‘Super Woman’ in my own head and heart, I'm only human and not meant to do it all myself. Experiencing community and people helping each other is what makes the world go around. It's through companies like VALENTÍNNÌCOLE & Dance With Me USA and incredible people like Val Chmerkovskiy, Nicole Volynets-Gamer, Papa Chmerkovskiy, Alex Samusevich, Jhanna Volynets & Daniel Zelikovsky (as well as all of those behind the scenes I've come to love) that graciously open your doors and actually include everyone and invite people who won't just take a chance on their own and ask for the opportunities before they're presented to them by invitation or a neon sign, specifying that they are welcomed. You've provided those opportunities for me personally and for so many others without even blinking. I imagine for some that are afraid to try, your acceptance lessens their fear in stepping out of their comfort zones and pushing past their potential or their own form of figurative, mental paralysis. It's amazing to feel truly welcomed and invited as opposed to what could be daunting to some, but sometimes fun to me, in fighting against discrimination and opposition. It's much more of a fun, loving experience when you feel so appreciated and welcomed from the very beginning. It really means the world to me because I see people all too often pause and panic in fear of rejection when a huge opportunity could be staring them in the face if they would only ask. I'm sure I speak for everyone who has had the pleasure of crossing all of your paths when I say thank you for being the kind, motivating and inspiring people YOU all are!
Thank you for that Marissa. That truly is the sentiment that we try to bring forth to the world when we feel that it’s lacking. It’s amazing to be able to hear that we could have even had a bit of influence in a force like yourself! How have you influenced the community around you? When you started did you aim to impact others?
All of my life I've not only strived to reach (and surpass) my own potential, I'm also someone who sees the potential in others beneath any fears, insecurities and excuses. I've always aimed to influence others to "Push Past Paralysis" the way I strive to because there is always figurative paralysis that we all need to overcome, whether it's through a conversation with a family member, friend or life coaching client, or even just through something I post on YouTube, my blog or social media—the people around me always tell me that I give them the loving kick in the butt they need to toss away their excuses, reach their own goals and dream bigger. I feel like I just live my life but if I can be of help to someone along the way who is stuck or struggling, it's my honor to help them see their own potential.
Sometimes that can be a hard thing for me because I want the best for everyone. I don't want to just inspire someone in the moment and then have them go back to their lives and lose that motivation. If I truly inspire someone, I want them to show me that by going and living life to their highest potential. Sure, it's meaningful to hear that I inspire someone but what I really want people to do is shock and inspire themselves, even if it's from being inspired by something they've seen me do or something I've said, and go out and do big things themselves! That would be more gratifying to me than anything.
Tell us what makes you unique?
The most obvious thing that makes me unique is that I'm in a wheelchair. Yet, the other most obvious thing that makes me unique is that I don't look at myself as someone in a wheelchair. It doesn't define or limit me at all. I've done everything from mat yoga (NOTE: get out of the chair, stretch those hips!) to climbing a ladder to go down a water slide, and of course dancing with Val is at the top of my list! I really wouldn't change my life for anything. I don't believe God and the universe make mistakes or that I need prayer to be "healed". I'm a spiritual, not religious, person and I believe I chose to come here and be born with the challenges I have to show others that it's possible to be a whole, healthy, happy person despite the challenges we may face. We will ALL face them—that's inevitable. So the question is—will we roll over and let the challenges defeat us or rise above with confidence and never stop striving for the best out of ourselves? The choice is ours, no matter how our circumstances may tempt us to feel like a victim. I truly believe that the hard times are just opportunities for us to realize how strong we really are. It's so sad to me that not enough people see the value in the gift of life and so easily take it for granted, focusing their attention on what they feel they can't do instead of appreciating what they can do, and pushing themselves beyond the limits they or others set for them. What you focus on is what becomes prominent in your experience, so why not focus on the good and the solutions, instead of focusing on the bad and the problems in life?
Long-term goals are rewarding but far more difficult to achieve because they don’t provide instant gratification. Would you attribute your long-term determination to, a person, place, or thing, to helping you stay focused day to day?
My determination is an every day choice and it has been since the day I was born. I believe all our moods and how we face obstacles are choices we make daily that turn into habits of how we ultimately will face everything. We may not get to decide what's happening day to day, but we do get to decide how we face it and that makes it more likely that we get to decide the outcome instead of feeling like we're not in control of our own destiny. There are days when I get frustrated that something, whether in my control or not, isn't happening right this second (HOW long did it take DWTS to give Val the trophy he deserved? I swear I think I have gray hairs!) and there are days when I even put my long term goals on the back burner because life just gets in the way. I always return to it, especially if it's something I'm passionate about, because I find myself snapping out of my mood and thinking, "Ya know what? No. Stop it. I'm gonna do this. I'm not quitting. I've come too far. Just because it's not happening right now doesn't mean it never will!" I pep talk myself a lot, Rocky Balboa and Will Smith style!
I honestly don't think I would have the same determination had I not been born with a physical challenge. I'm grateful for it because it's taught me to always push myself and keep striving for more. I credit my upbringing for giving me the ability to always stay determined. My whole attitude toward life is thanks to my family that never treated me any different than all of us in this world are from each other. It's how I've learned to never settle for being treated differently by anyone. My family always taught me there was nothing I couldn't do. While I know patience is a virtue that I lack and continue to work on, the determination to keep going is what motivates me to never give up.
What’s next for you?!
I have quite a few things coming up. I'm always writing new blogs and recording new vlogs for YouTube. I'm currently working on another book, which will be my fourth. Actually, I'm in the early stages of 2 books—one is a mind, body, spirit book about living healthy with a physical challenge and the other is about how I've worked through and continue to cope with my younger brothers' addiction and suicide. I'm also attended an "Out Of The Darkness" walk for suicide prevention on June 4th, 2016 (of course, decked out in VALENTÍNNÌCOLE.) As far as something going on personally, I'm turning 30 in November so I'm looking for something fun to do for that too! I hear the 30's are a woman's best years?!
Now just one more thing we were wondering.. What does VALENTINNICOLE mean to you?
At this point, I think you guys know you're going to get a deep answer for this question too. As much as I'd love to attribute that to being a fan of Val "Mr. Philosopher" for so long, I've always been a deep thinker, looking for the reason behind everything and VALENTÍNNÌCOLE is no different. To truly understand it, I look at the work that's gone into it. It started as a simple t-shirt idea and has just skyrocketed and expanded! Both Val & Nicole are hard workers that came from incredible parents (both sets of whom I've been fortunate enough to meet) that have obviously taught them to never stop working hard and striving to achieve their dreams. I'm so proud of both of them for how they've taken on yet another dream and made it a reality that I'm sure is already far beyond what they originally imagined and is still growing. It has truly inspired me. The clothing line really is the definition of a "Push Past Paralysis" mentality and you truly feel that when you wear their clothes—at least I do!
We would like to thank Marissa just one more time for all of her love, support, and willingness to share her inspiring story with all of us who are a part of VALENTÍNNÌCOLE!! We are truly lucky to have such members like all of you as a part of our large family that can bond over our passions, our support, positivity, and definitely some fashion!
Please go check out Marissa’s Youtube channel here, and keep up with what she’s up to!! https://www.youtube.com/user/Marissa11586
Stay tuned for more inspiring people who will be joining us in the YOUinspireUS Campaign!
Hey it’s Nicole Volynets-Gamer and I’m here writing from the VALENTÍNИÌCOLE headquarters in New York City! These last weeks we had the pleasure of getting to connect with good people from all over the country, and even internationally (Shoutout to our girl in Holland)! With all of these incredible submissions from such beautiful and different people, it made choosing just one super difficult!
To us this has been the best competition we have done because it gave us an incredible glimpse of where our clothing goes, how it’s worn, and most of all the awesome people wearing it!
After the contest had finally come to a close and after much deliberation, we had found the winner to be named our Miss VALENTINNICOLE. She holds the crown right now and hails from good ol’ Alabama. While we were joyous to finally be getting some “warm” weather that was in the mid 60’s here in New York, our Miss ValentinNicole was hangin’ out in a nice warm 87 degrees!! Jealous much… Yes, we were.
We’re super pleased to introduce you all to our friend Sydney who is reppin’ ValentinNicole oh so well out in Grady, Alabama! Let jump right into it…
Nicole Volynets: Hey Sydney, tell us a little bit about yourself! Your name and where you're from. Then just give us a few sentences about who you are and what you're about.
Sydney Morgan: My name is Sydney Morgan. I'm 17, from a small town in Alabama where the population is under 1,000. I love Jesus, he keeps me grounded. Dance is my passion! I love ballroom, from there you can go anywhere.. I enjoy fashion, I love a classic look with a twist! Soft tee's and cute skirts are some of my favorites. That's why I love the ValentinNicole look.
Nicole Volynets: What's the most important thing for your look when you step out of the door?
Sydney Morgan: For me the most important thing is either a great pair of sunnies or the perfect lipstick, whether it be bold or neutral. I think these can tie any look together!
Nicole Volynets: What does ValentinNicole mean to you?
Sydney Morgan: ValentinNicole... means passion and creativity, classic and comfortable. The designs encourage me to chase my dreams, to be confident and positive. And I'm thrilled to be able to represent the brand!
Nicole Volynets: What makes your heart skip a beat?
Sydney Morgan: Well, the message telling me I won the contest definitely made my heart skip a few beats! Dance moves me...When I have a good lesson or master a new pattern, I get a glimpse of my future and it keeps me going.
Awesome responses, Sydney!! Okay, now lets do a rapid fire round:
Nicole: Cat or Dog?
Sydney: Dog. We have 5 dogs and one cat, dogs win! Crazy about animals and somehow strays always seem to find us.
Nicole: Black or White?
Sydney: White
Nicole: PB&J or MAC&CHEESE?
Sydney: Not really a fan of either, can you believe that?! But if I had to choose, PB&J.
Nicole: Giraffe or owl?
Sydney: I'd have to pick the owl because she has the freedom to fly.
Nicole: Rock or pop? Any others?
Sydney: Well my music taste varies so it's hard to nail me down to one. Honestly it can range from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift.
Nicole: Top 3 fav movies?
Sydney: 1. Breakfast at Tiffany's
2. Sound of Music
3. The Longest Ride
Nicole: Gold or silver?
Sydney: Gold
Nicole: Describe your personality in 3 adjectives?
Sydney: Dreamer, encourager, intuitive.
Nicole: Whats your spirit animal?
Sydney: The wild horse, he is noble in his own right, part of this nation's history, and he should be free. Unfortunately some are not and still at risk. I've been following the Safe Act in the Senate.
Nicole: Okay, finally.. How would you describe your fashion personality?
Sydney: I like my style personality to be classy, elegant, and fun...like Audrey Hepburn with a modern twist.
Thank you so much, Sydney! You are totally awesome and just shout positivity from your look, to your words. Keep that up! You have made a great addition to the VALENTÍNИÌCOLE Family and we’re proud to have you continue spreading the importance of the things we love and feel a passion for!
More from VALENTÍNИÌCOLE to come...
