her story . . .
ji-ae was raised by a single father, a man who worked for the military in germany before he was recruited for overwatch as a tank, three years before she was born. she’s never known a world without overwatch, been raised since she was old enough to walk to follow overwatch protocols.
when she was four, her father signed her up to do gymnastics, by ten she had learned how to disassemble and reassemble a gun in less than two minutes. her father tried to be nurturing but it seemed that all his attempts were just prepping ji to one day take her father’s place. they were constantly moving, shifting from one country to another, leaving ji with a suitcase always ready to go- tucked under her bed ( even now ).
when she was sixteen, ji-ae was getting a few snacks from a connivence store when suddenly she was stuck in an armed robbery. however, the man didn’t have more than a few minutes to start demanding money before ji-ae had swung herself over the shelves, kicking him in the face before arm barring him on the ground till both police- and her father arrived.
from that moment, her father started training ji-ae to be less of a shield and more of a sword. he began teaching her extensive combat scenarios, how to be both defensive and offensive for her squadron. this was the same year that she met JUSTIN MILLER.
you see, ji-ae spent a lot of time using overwatch facilities to train with her father and it wasn’t hard for her to pick up on the fact that the 19 year old was a chaotic force that was a worthy rival. soon enough, she was making him spar with her- hours were spent into working out maneuvers to land him on his ass.
and a few months later, she officially joined the overwatch training program. the young girl kicked the training program’s ass, entering overwatch’s official ranks by the time she was nineteen. assigned a callsign & a squad ( HELIX ) , the girl was ready to start taking on missions and forming what would become her new family.

ji-ae is always picking up missions when she can, loving the feeling of hanging upside down from a fire escape to get the perfect shot or having her tank literally throw her into the chaos to get her squad to meet their target. she’s a nightmare for most supports in the sense that she won’t say anything till she’s absolutely desperate for help.
she’s always cheerful, maintaining the rules her father taught her while always being the first packed and ready to go when they get the call. she loves her teammates, both helix and not helix, treating them as her family.
