Hey babe! Don't you dare say you are a shit writer. Because you are NOT!!! You are an amazing writer!!! Your all stories are amazing!! But my personal favourite is WILD!!! It is such a unique concept & great strong storyline. YOU ARE AMAZING WRITER! PERIOD!!! 😙❤️💕😍💝💞💗💛❣️😘💟💖✨🔥
This morning sucked, and I really appreciate the messages and replies you guys have sent. It’s just been a really rough time and I post my fics because I want to share them, and sometimes it’s a little disheartening when there’s just an empty void staring back at me.
Anyway, I’ve dragged myself out of my pity party, and thank you for taking the time to send such a lovely ask, I really appreciate it ❤
Hey dear! Good morning! If you don't mind me asking, I wanted to know, how you choose which character to be with Y/N in a story? Love you lots! -Val.
Hey Val! It really depends on what the idea is... if it’s specifically thought of with a character in mind, or if subsequent plot points fit one character over another.
For me, a lot of the stories I write start with a general idea, and that idea usually comes with a few plot points once I really think about what would happen, major points I would want to discuss in a story. It could be an event, a quote, or a plot twist. So I’ll think of something, and that something will have a “so A, B, and C will also happen during this story”, and most of the time when I think of those plot points, I can usually tell which character would fit better.
Other times, an idea will be centralized around a specific character, and this is true especially in stories that have smut. Like, “Sam Winchester gets hurt on a hunt, and he’s adorable and whiney” or “Steve Rogers accidentally injures you during sparring and makes it up to you”. Obviously the idea with Sam is specific for the SPN universe since he was injured on a hunt, but it could also be switched to say... Bucky, and he gets hurt on a mission instead of a hunt. Most of the time, a smut story will also begin as a daydream, and you usually have a character in mind for that. ;)
It really helps to understand the personalities for the characters your writing for, how they would react in a specific situation, too. If the plot or general outline of your story seems to match how one particular character would react, you usually want to go with that person to keep it as in-character as possible. Like, Sam Winchester’s personality is canonically more sympathetic/emotional in 1-on-1 settings than Dean’s (Dean prefers to be alone with his emotions), so if your plot involves a lot of emotion or discussion of feelings, picking Sam would be the better option.
However, you can also add twists, where a character would be expected to react or behave one way, but actually ends up the complete opposite. This works especially well for situations a character has not encountered in their canon universe. Like, how Steve Rogers in canon is America’s good boy, a pillar of kindness/ heroics, and never swears, and how Bucky had a reputation of being a ladies man and a flirt. You can write a story where Steve’s a dirty mouthed animal in bed and bangs you like a screen door in a hurricane, and one where Bucky is sweet and loving and only has eyes for you. Since we don’t have a Marvel sex scene for Steve or Bucky, you can interpret it as you want. Bucky and Steve could both fit either narrative, but it’s definitely more entertaining to add a plot twist of it being Steve who’s the one that likes wild sex, and Bucky being a sweetheart.
So all in all, a general plot or story idea will usually develop and end up fitting one of the characters you write for as long as you understand their personalities. But as with all writing, you have some wiggle room to weave a narrative around a character who might not have a canon reaction or response to something you might be writing.
"Burning at Both Ends" was really great! Those feelings of not being enough & people won't care or even notice are just so familiar. I loved how you wrote their dynamic. Him helping her. & The simple though of not able to do basic function like breathing right, just got me. When I first had my panic attack I didn't know it was Panic attack I thought I was getting asthma attack against. I didn't understand because there was nothing there that could trigger my asthma, so when I talked to my parents & our family doctor, they just brush it aside so easily, that it broke something inside of me. They did take me seriously. It happened 2-3 time after that. So I had to learn to deal with panic attack on my own, just like I learned to deal with my asthma attack on my own. Without showing the struggle on my face. So I could just imagine how good it would feel to have someone with you there, just present. I am so sorry I am babbling. My point being your stories are great, they give me a sense of hope, that somewhere in this world there is atleast one person who will care for me enough to be present atleast, to be just there. I loved it! 💗💛❣️💖🔥✨😘💟 Hope you have a good day ahead. Ily - Val.
Hi Val! 💜
First of all, thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the fic!!
I also want to thank you for sharing that personal thing about yourself. I’m sorry that your parents and your doctor didn’t take you seriously. That’s not okay at all. Panic attacks aren’t something to brush to the side at all. I’ve had countless in my life and they never get any easier. Thankfully if you have enough of them, you can get a feel for when they are going to hit before they actually do so you can kind of prepare yourself for what you need to do. I get them a lot at work when I’m overwhelmed, and something that delays them is sucking on a piece of ice, because it resets your fight or flight system since everything stops when that happens. Your first instinct is to suck on that piece of ice and produce saliva which doesn’t happen during a panic attack. It works pretty good!
Someday, someone will understand your panic attacks the way Jensen did in this fic. Someone will understand the way you work and love you because of them. You deserve that and don’t settle for anything less! 💜 Thank you for the love!!
