"The song I picked came out of much needed inspiration from late last year. The few months proceeding and after the election I went from listening to college radio to listening to straight news via NPR. Disenchanted and needing to feel informed of the surmounting chaos around us, I was like a teenager after a breakup listening to Morrissey.

People always challenge me, "if you're sad, why would you choose to listen to sad music?" My reason is that it makes me feel connected, that someone else went through this B.S. and had the heart to write about it. That gives me solace.

This song does it for me when I need it the most. Just when it felt like everything went to shit, comes a song like "Vamala". I can't listen to it without feeling happy." - @luckymonkey137
