What's your favorite scene in goncharov mine is the bridge scene where drunken gon almost commits suicide by pointing a gun to his head. That scene was so touching and tbe soundtrack was amazing.

oh gosh, it's so hard to pick! it's been several years now since I've seen it, but you know that scene when goncharov is outside talking to someone who we never really hear or see clearly enough to pin down who it is, and katya is inside and we're kind of hanging in her pov as she juices the oranges? the one before andrey comes over and they talk in the parlor. I know that the big focus of that scene is usually "who was goncharov talking to, what was he scheming before he sat down with andrey" but I remember just being, like, captivated by katya's hands. because she's not really focused on the oranges, she - like we - is trying to eavesdrop on goncharov, but if you look at her hands, the juice and the pulp is oozing out between her fingers and the way that it's lit, it looks like blood to me. she's trying so hard to hear what goncharov is talking about, that she doesn't notice her hands filling with blood.

then, the fact that she takes those same hands - now clean - and plays the piano in the next scene while goncharov and andrey talk, drowning out their voices so she specifically doesn't know what they're saying, in direct contrast to the orange scene...idk man, makes my brain go brrrrr you know?
