Sleep has always existed. He is the oldest being in the Mindscape, knowledgeable about everything that came afterwards. His domain is dreams, the subconscious. Anything the others dream of will be shared with him; knowledge, feelings, secrets... Not that Remy goes out of his way to look for it.
Some things just refuse to stay hidden.
Remy knows that Janus is a vampire, the same way that he knows their name without ever having been told it. Nightmares about rejection and dreams about acceptance both sit heavily with him.
It's part of why Remy decides to seek out the so-called sides. If he can ease the burden of at least one of them, then he thinks that Janus is the one who needs it most.
Of course, teasing and flirting is more his forte than serious talks.
So @loveceit suggested writing about how anxceitmusleep got together when I asked them for something in our Vampiceit au to write as a distraction.
Kinda failed that, but here’s a bit just before anxceitmus get together but after dukeceit is together, or quite a bit of that time

Virgil had a lot of questions after learning that Deceit was not really a snake but a vampire. Sure he had suspected it a lot over the years but the conviction he'd been told differently had made him start to believe it.
Now he just wanted to know if there were other things Deceit had lied about, from his likes and dislikes to the things he enjoyed doing.
Virgil found himself draped over Remy's bed bemoaning where the lies ended and truth began. "He insisted he was a snake for so many years Rem, sure I know his dreams told you the truth but does this mean everything he's told me is a lie?"
"Babes just ask him. I can't find the truth unless it's impacting his dreams so just ask him." Remy insisted, waving his coffee mug in Virgil's direction. "Here we could meet him at this cute coffee shop just on Roman's side of the imagination and you could ask any questions you like."
That's how Virgil found himself sat having coffee with Deceit just trying to pick a question to start and mentally wondering why Remy was hurrying off to supposedly help Roman with something.
"So do you really like liquorice or did you just eat them because neither of us do?" It wasn't the question Virgil meant to start with but it was easier than the more emotionally loaded ones.
Deceit had just blinked at him for a moment, "Why would I have lied about the sweets I like? We could have told Remus not to make them if I didn't want liquorice."
After getting that reply Virgil was a bit more confident in getting an honest response even if he still rarely asked more than one question at a time for fear of being annoying.
"So you know now what sweets you could give him for valentines? You go girl." Remy had cheered, later on. "It's a start to knowing him better at least."
Virgil had shook his head at the idea but did start wondering if he could help Deceit or Remy if he asked questions about their fears and worries. "What sweets should I be getting for you then?" he asked instead of voicing those thoughts, letting the conversation dissolve into ranting at each other.
"Do you really feel like I abandoned you?" Virgil had been scared to ask it sooner, but the passing comment Deceit had once made haunted him and he only hoped Dee was actually answering honestly.
"I wouldn't lie about..." Deceit broke off with a blink, turning to face Virgil fully and mentally wondering if any of the last few questions had been this serious. "I did for a while. We were so close and then you left and seemed to hate me. It was hard not to. You still barely step in my room when you once spent hours in there needing comfort or to calm down."
"Oh." the guilt on Virgil's face as he nodded and started to scuttle away made Deceit hope he hadn't said the wrong thing in being honest. Finding a nest of Virgil's blankets in his room that night with said man curled up napping among them made him smile and relax. Whether it was the right or wrong thing to say it seemed like another barrier between them had come down once more.
"Have we adopted our Spider King once more?" was all the comment Remus gave wrapping himself around Dee while he'd paused to stare.
"Looks like it." Dee didn't exactly understand why that agreement led to Remus being curled up with Virgil as often as with himself but even if his boyfriend was acting odd that wasn't really unexpected. It was only slightly more often that Deceit found Virgil curled around Remy than Remus being the one included in cuddles.
Remy had laughed a little when he heard about the nest. He'd been chilling around the hidden sides more often since Remus first found out about Deceit being a vampire and was just encouraging Virgil's reaction now.
"You know he doesn't actually like the dungeon aesthetic. He just says he does cause Remus loves how spooky it is." He commented to Virgil a few days later, curious over how Virgil would react to it.
Of course that just led to Dee being asked about it and kind of agreeing absently, too used to random little things he'd forgotten ever giving an opinion about now to fully listen. It had only taken a few days of Virgil asking his questions before he would just confirm he had been truthful in the past.
Virgil's actual response was only found that evening where instead of the benches and decorations of chains their living room now had a fireplace and large cushions covering the benches, tapestries hung on the walls on top of the chains and even a few more lights. He might not have been able to fully reconstruct the space without Remus's help but he did his damndest with the details.
"Can't believe you got me doing all that work just for Dee. I might be taller than you but that doesn't mean I'm in charge of wall decorations." Remy was complaining to Virgil in the Anxious Sides room and wondering about how their effort would be received.
"What if we over did it or Remus is annoyed? You said it was all for Remus that he accepted having the rooms decorated like that and they are together." Virgil didn't exactly respond to Remy's complaint, already worrying about the biggest thing he'd done after one of his questions.
Remus actually cheered at the change, having heard when Virgil questioned it. Deceit took a moment before pulling one of the benches closes to the fire place and curling up on it.
What finally made Dee question what was going on was a lava lamp being placed in his room. Virgil had been napping there occasionally since he first placed the blanket nests and always preferred a room to be as dark as possible so the lamp made no sense at all unless connected to his answers to questions.
"Dear Duke, do you know what Virgil was asking me about earlier?" Deceit asked quietly, pulling Remus into his room when he knew Virgil would be with the light sides.
He was met with a wildly nodding head. "You used to be scared of the dark and he was checking if you still are. Whyyy?" Of course Remus was already looking around the room and finding the new addition.
"I think Virgil might want to date me." Deceit was hesitant to voice the thought, especially given he was already dating Remus.
"We're already dating him? Did you miss that?" There is never a normal response for Remus to give but that one was beyond unexpected.
It took a moment before Deceit worked out how to respond. "When did that happen and does Virgil agree with that?"
"He's the one courting you with everything from redecorating to lamps to literally making a blanket nest in room. I just assumed he was dating us now." Remus insisted waving around the room at the various gifts that had appeared from Anxiety over the past weeks.
Dee couldn't deny that there was a lot of gifts around now, but just assuming a relationship seemed doomed to fail. He could work on that though, starting with just asking.
Deceit zooming in and licking the blood off of anyone that has started bleeding, and then afterwards trying to excuse it as a predator instinct mixed with hanging out with Remus too much, even if snakes don't hunt by smelling for blood
I'm curious, what's a vampiceit headcanon you have?
Roman is the only one to get explicitly told that Remus, Dee, Remy, and Virgil are dating. Very explicitly.
...he walked into Remus' bedroom without knocking, like an idiot. And obviously had to stand there for a while to figure out what the hell was going on because there were four people in various state of dress, and he swore he saw blood, and Remus was definitely biting someone's neck.
Roman can't look any of them in the eyes for the next month, and also has a new fear of octopi/squids.
The Vampire!Dee au is a collab with me and @loveceit now We’re going to be tagging it #vampiceit if you want to follow what we come up with for it
and yeah my brain is either rehashing everything from this series of reblogs developing bits of the story or acting like a market stall vendor and yelling about everything.
Instead here’s some series of events coming after Deceit leaves the mind space for the first time, they probably don’t happen close together, but have to happen after then since that’s when Deceit actually starts craving and needing blood.
Deceit has always like just gnawed on Remus’s arm, it’s a thing he does, not breaking skin or anything and he says it’s because his fangs hurt so he’ll just do it sometimes. When he realises visiting the real world means he needs blood it’s not hard to just ask if he can actually bite and break the skin.
Remus pretty quickly learns Dee is a vampire after that with the comments of “Kinky, are you a vampire or is this leading to something?” Deceit tells the truth if only cause he wants more idea of what ‘leading to something’ will end up with given Remus’s chaos.
Virgil finds out when he just decides to chill in the darker part of the mindspace for a while, maybe the light sides were too much energy or he’d left something there, whatever, but he walks in on Deceit feeding. With Remus literally just going “Spiderling, we have a vampire, did you know?” and Deceit kind of nodding, “Virgil, you’ve interrupted my dinner, but how can I assist?”
This was a situation Deceit worried over, just how negatively Virgil could react, from thinking he was trying to kill another side to just anger. Virgil smacking the wall, and yelling “I KNEW IT!” wasn’t expected, although Remus adding the below isn’t.
Another part of the Vampiceit Au I share with @loveceit
Deceit is resolved to never be a sterotypical vampire and that includes never feeding or biting someone’s neck. A couple of his boyfriends want to change his mind
Warning: quite a bit of suggestiveness and innuendo
/\/\/\/\/\
Deceit swore he wouldn't be a vampire stereotype, biting people's necks. That was why even when he started dating Remus he always only bit his arms and kept that choice when the relationship grew to include others.
He should have expected that Virgil would want the neck bite mark at some point. Anxiety had always had some fascination with the aesthetic and stories of vampires.
Of course the request was never verbally made, just implied over a couple of weeks where if Deceit ever asked to feed Virgil would be volunteering. That added to an increase in how much he got nipped and bitten in their kisses was enough for Deceit to understand the desire was there.
It didn't change when he forced all his loves to marathon the twilight movies disparaging all the clichés and stereotypes both caused by them and fed into by them. Virgil just laughed along and got Remus involved in discussing a biting kink. Apparently it felt really good for Virgil to have teeth on his neck as Remy was more than happy to show while trying to stop the conversation. At least that seemed to surprise Virgil as much as it amused the others given their boyfriend.
Deceit had rolled his eyes then, commenting "That's all well and good for a stereotypical vampire but I refuse to ever be a stereotypical anything."
"Babes, how is it stereotypical to do something our cuties enjoy? I thought vamps were known for being aloof mansion owners that lured people in to kill them? None of that is you." Remy pointed out, his glasses on his forehead for once.
Remus had been shaking his head once he realised they were actually trying to ask Deceit to bite their necks. "Alright monsters, that's never been Dee's scene. If he don't wanna do that then I'll get myself some fangs so you can have the bite marks."
"I'm fairly sure squids and octopi have beaks Babes, but we could do that." Remy laughed, pulling Virgil closer.
Virgil was pouting a little. "We have a vampire boyfriend and can have another be a fake vampire yet neither of you let me give you vampire makeovers. Remy has pictures galore of how awesome I can make him look."
The pout didn't last as everyone snickered at his absurd complaint recognising it as teasing easily.
"You better start practising changing your teeth then." Deceit reminded Remus. It was clear that someone would have to give them vampire bites sooner rather than later.
/\/\/\/\
Of course Remus's way of announcing he'd perfected his own set of fangs was to pop up and randomly bite the arm closest to him which happened to be Deceit's. He was met with a well deserved punch two seconds later as Remy and Virgil burst into laughter.
"So the vampire gets bitten." Remy crowed a little, Remus joining in with the laughter just a second before Deceit did.
Moving to actually sit on the sofa next to Dee, Remus grinned showing his new teeth off. "Do we match now? Who wants me to take a bite?"
Just for comparisons sake Deceit mirrors the expression, baring his fangs towards Virgil. "Weirdos, You are identically creepy and if I'm not the first to have my neck bitten it's a crime." Virgil decided after leaning close to inspect both sets of teeth on display.
"News just in, getting bitten on the arm let's you know what teeth look like if it happens often enough even without the sexy times." Remus immediately had a presenter voice on, but leant forwards cradling the back of Virgil's head with his hands. "Although they are invited anytime."
Deceit and Remy could see Virgil planning to make a remark the words never came. As Remus sank his summoned fangs into his neck Virgil's knees gave out. Remy had to leap forwards to support his loves so neither ended up collapsed on the floor. "Okay new rule, only bite Virgil's neck when he's sitting or laying down."
"Or you could let us fall and really test out these fangs for some fun if you join us?" Remus suggested, leaning back to fully see the reaction he'd received.
Deceit might never want to bite or feed from the neck of a person but at least there was a side in the mind space who could do some of that for him.
some anxceitmusleep thoughts for my and @anxiouslyfred 's vampire!deceit au
how they got together
deceit and remus gets together first
remus accepts that they're also dating virgil the first time that virgil does something nice for deceit after finding out the truth about him being a vampire
remy is actively trying to set virgil up with deceit and remus
it takes deceit a few months to mention to remus that he thinks virgil wants to date them
virgil officially gets together with deceit and remus, but he has assumed that remy is also in their relationship
remy starts distancing himself from them because he doesn't want to be a third wheel
virgil doesn't understand what they did wrong, and deceit and remus are both missing remy
the three of them have an actual conversation about remy's place in their relationship and their feelings for him
then they go and confess to remy, who had partly distanced himself because he had caught feelings for the three of them
it's a bit messy but at last all four of them are together
some relationship fluff
remy's jacket and virgil's hoodie aren't safe; they will be constantly stolen. remus usually goes for the jacket and deceit for the hoodie, though remy will take virgil's hoodie if he can't find his jacket, and virgil will take remy's jacket if he can't find his hoodie
one of them is lying down on the floor, sofa or a bed? everyone else will come lie on top of them. crushing someone is affection.
sleepy deceit will just. chew on one of their arms. for a vampire that pretended to be a snake, he's essentially a teething kitten. he chews on them when not sleepy too, but it happens a lot more when he's sleepy.
remy wears sunglasses due to light sensitivity and deceit has a sun allergy, so the dark side has covered windows and lots of fairy lights and other mood lighting
virgil and remus both get nonverbal when their thoughts are overwhelming, so the four of them will cuddle up watching a tim burton movie on low volume, taking a quiet day
Ya know, this is for the Vampiceit au I have with @loveceit but I have been struggling with writing the ending of it cause it romance and I ain’t good at that when it’s projects like this.
This is how Virgil, Deceit and Remus actually get Remy to join their relationship. There’s talk of abandonment, self doubt and talk about arguments, it even gets kind of angsty for a bit but ends up mostly fluff. Also Remy does sort of pass out, sort of just get to absorbed in his thoughts to have his body react to anything at one point
Enjoy
I wanna write more about the cafe now

"You're moping again. I haven't seen that happen since we got together." Deceit observed, coming to throw an arm around Virgil where he was curled against the arm of the sofa.
Of course Remus wasn't far behind joining them, managing to find a comfortable position over both of their laps. "What's up Blustery? Too much excitement for you to handle all of this?" he asked, blinking up at them.
"Does he hate me? Was this something I should have clarified? But we never clarified anything before that it was just all understood, have I done something wrong then?" The words did nothing to explain what Virgil was moping about and everything to confuse Deceit and Remus even more than before. All they could assume was Virgil had been dating someone but it had been cut off when they got together with him and Virgil was trying to figure out why.
They share a glance before Remus nuzzled into his stomach. "Lightning Storm, who are you talking about? I can't give suggestions without a name at least.”
"Remy of course, I was with them. I'm sure we were together and they always seemed to encourage me trying to help and get to know you better so why is he ignoring me now? He's not even been hanging out with all of us like he always used to do." Virgil spoke like it should have been obvious.
The words did make Deceit realise that while before Remy had just had coffee with him or instead of arguing over Remus being curled up with Virgil only ever joined them, the function hadn't even visited them recently. They'd even missed the show that only he and Deceit liked and had made a point of watching together.
"So we kidnap them, get an explanation and all the cuddles you want only releasing him to let Thomathy get some sleep." Remus nodded before Deceit could finish checking his recent memories for other things Remy had suddenly changed.
At least the identically shaking heads were expected now. "Give me your arm. I need to think and biting you normally stops you saying too much nonsense."
Virgil started petting Remus's hair as he tried not to panic over the failing relationship and how confused his current dates were about him mentioning it. It had been obvious right? Nobody just cuddles, hangs out and cares for each other as much as Remy and he had been so they had to have been dating. There had even been small forehead or cheek kisses when Remy was helping him to sleep and cuddling together overnight.
"Are you thinking that Remy is now dating all of us or just you?" Deceit asked breaking from his feed for a moment before starting another drink while waiting for an answer.
"That's you two and Remy's choice. If you weren't already together I can't say whether there should be attraction there or not. That's--that's not how feelings work, right?" focusing on Remus and the rhythm of stroking his hair was already helping to bring Virgil's breathing back to a steadier pattern.
"Sleeping with Sleep sounds great, when can I start? What kinks do you think he has? I'm betting somophilia and plushies." Remus piped up, grinning as his arms was fully released now.
Dee sighed, "Chaos Causer that's for thinking about after we've actually asked Remy if he wants to date us and clarified that Virgil thought they were dating and to suddenly stop that is the height of poor manners."
"How are we talking to him about it? I've got plenty of plans we could use to capture and kidnap him." Remus began listing out possible ways while the others just enjoyed the time cuddling and calming down together.
...
In the end Virgil insisted on just summoning Remy and hoping he'd answer. Actually he accidentally tried to summon Remy when he'd gotten upset over a stupid argument with Patton over a friends party that was intended to run very late.
They'd already settled on going only for the first hour before coming home since Thomas would be filming the next day but Virgil was still shaking. It was never easy to react when Patton was properly angry at him.
"Babes, I know its been a hot second since I came around but there's no need to cry over me." The words were the first thing that made him realise Remy was actually there and Virgil couldn't help throwing himself at the function.
He was easily caught with arms wrapping around him tightly and there was a moment where all his worries almost started spilling out before new ones emerged over upsetting Remy enough he left even more quickly this time. Trying to avoid that and just keep the comfort of his first partner Virgil decided to just send a small summons to his other boyfriends and hope Deceit would know how to bring the conversation up.
"Easy sweetheart, what's got you so upset? Has there been an argument in paradise?" Remy was entirely focused on calming and comforting in that moment, soothing hands going over Virgil's hair.
Remus was the first one to appear and wrap himself around the pair already present. "What happened with the others? Who am I killing?"
"So no trouble with Remus why are you so upset, Virge?" Remy adjusted surprisingly easily to having another person hanging off his back.
"Patton wasn't being kind today, was he? With everything already going on with Remy that argument just got too much, didn't it?" Deceit's words were gentle as he came over to the trio, only stroking the back of Virgil's neck.
That made Remy pause as he took in what was being said. "What's going on with me now? And any clues over what worked my Babes up this much would be awesome."
"So he is still your babes then? Virgil's been very upset that someone he was sure he was dating suddenly wasn't hanging out with us at all." Deceit said, gaze piercing through Remy's normal smirk as Remus began migrating to mainly be holding Virgil.
“Of course but that feels like a loaded question I'm missing, Sweetheart. Wanna ask whatever you're trying to now?” Remy was sure he was close to understanding just why it felt like Virgil was trying to become a boa constrictor surrounding him if only one more bit of information was offered.
Remus rolled his eyes then, deliberately pulling his arms so Virgil and Remy got even more closely pressed together. “You've been abandoning your boyfriend and making him sad since we got with him. Stop that. We all want you included rather than whatever disappearing act you've been doing.”
Strike two for people saying he was dating Virgil when he knew nothing about it. “Okay, Babes, when did we start dating? Cause I could really use some dates on how long I've not been treating one of the hottest folks in Thomas's head right.” Remy hated asking loaded questions when Virgil was already upset but he didn't have much choice.
“Um – maybe 3 or 4 months? You didn't know? I – I thought.” Virgil tried to explain but couldn't get past the fact Remy hadn't realised they were dating but was still calling him his Babes. He ended up just hiding his face in Remy's neck again, cheeks burning.
He blinked for a moment, mentally tracking back the time and what would have distracted him from realising Virgil thought they were dating. “So I focused so much on helping you court the vampire that I missed the start of us dating? Damn, you are like so overdue a date to The Cafe Extravaganza at this point. When are you free? We can introduce you to all my red pandas” Remy asked, assuming it was all fine with Remus and Deceit since they had actually been the ones to bring up the subject.
“I've not been to Roman's half of the imagination in ages! Can we go now?” Remus asked immediately bouncing, even though he was still clinging to Virgil's back.
“Perhaps we could all go on this date together? Of course that's as long as you aren't opposed to also dating myself and the gremlin attached to you.” Deceit suggested, finally moving to join the group embrace they'd basically been stood in.
That was pretty much the moment Remy froze, questioning if he was even awake given when he'd gotten up that morning he hadn't realised he had even one boyfriend and now he was being invited to have three, three actual boyfriends that wanted to spend time with him and love him. Up until then he'd still kept part of his concentration on supporting Virgil and trying to comfort him, but now everything that wasn't somehow supported by Remus or Deceit was falling limp as his mind tried to comprehend the situation.
They were all curled up on the sofa when Remy blinked back out of his thoughts again, Virgil curled up on his chest, audibly counting the breaths Remy was taking. “So have I gone from not realising I was dating anyone to having three boyfriends? Or was that all a dream I made after something hitting my head?”
“Real and now we need to talk about your kinks!” Remus immediately insisted, bouncing across the room, ignoring the dual sighs and headshakes his words received.
Deceit had moved to get a glass of water from the coffee top before also joining everyone around the sofa. “It was real, but it's also true that you just passed out or got locked in your thoughts more thoroughly than either of these two have managed. I know your title is sleep but are you getting enough of it?”
“I sleep when everyone is asleep. That hasn't been happening so easily with the others this last week or so.” Remy shrugged, wrapping an arm around the man on his chest while taking the glass of water with his other hand.
There were frowns on the other threes faces at their words, each thinking over ways to try and help but before Remus could offer to run around knocking anyone still awake out Virgil was speaking. “You've never done that before and we've napped together plenty of times so why aren't you sleeping, Rems?”
“I thought I was Rems? I have a name stealer for a boyfriend!” Remus pouted, shoving Remy and Virgil along the sofa to properly strop with them leant against him.
“Depends on our moods which of us is called Rems, and of course I take naps with you, you're all cuddly and sweet when you're tired so how could I ever resist joining in? Doesn't mean that I'm not affected by the others not sleeping.” Remy protested, even while reaching their hand back to comb through Remus's hair.
Deceit was still shaking his head. “You're forgetting I'm present Remy. We don't impact you if we're awake when you want to sleep and even Thomas only marginally does so since most of our sleeping schedules follow in line with his. If you're looking for an excuse for us all to sleep in a pile now though I'll agree to it.”
“Yeah, that would be good. It's when I've felt loneliest since I didn't realise Virgil thought we were already dating and I thought you'd all want some space.” Remy admitted, the awkward look seeming very out of place on him having his new loves all frantically trying to think of something that would actually divert the conversation.
Virgil came up with one first, “What were you saying about red pandas?”
“I'll tell you all about them for snuggles somewhere bigger than this sofa so we can all be comfy together.” Remy pouted, wrapping his arms around Deceit's neck when he leant close enough. “Carry me to bed, Darling?”
