Vampire!Actor x GN!Reader, TW: bite, blood, bats Words: 665
The castle was empty, but it felt especially empty tonight. You wandered through the halls with your candelabra, looking for your partner. He had a habit of hiding in the weirdest of places to sleep, but it was unusual for him to not be around during the night, when he was usually awake. You searched around, hoping that he wouldn’t jump out of a dark corner in an attempt to scare you. But your search inside the castle walls remained fruitless.
That was, until you got to your bedroom. You look out the window to see him on the rooftop of a lower room. It’s at the perfect height to step down, flat enough for plenty of square footage to hold the both of you. You set the candles down by the window, climbing out to join him, laying out, looking up at the sky.
“Mark, what are you doing?”
“Stargazing, would you care to join me?”
You were already on the roof, so there was no real reason for you not to. You lay next to him, allowing him to wrap his arm around you as you lay your head on his chest. The stars are particularly bright tonight, twinkling against the black sky. The moon was full as well, casting its rays on the two of you, illuminating the rooftop with a soft bluish glow. The sounds of crickets and bats filled the air, an owl nearby hooting its call.
“They’re beautiful, aren’t they, darling?”
“Yes, I can see why you wanted to come out onto the roof tonight.”
He chuckles a bit, cupping your cheek with his hand as he moves your gaze to meet with his.
“There’s my favorite star of all~”
He laughs a bit more heartily as blush covers your cheeks, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“You of course, are incredibly tempting to take, out here in the open, my darling bat~”
Blood pumps through your veins as he flirts in that suave way that always gets you worked up. You’d think that you’d be immune to his shenanigans by this point, but they still get to you every time. He readjusts you so he has prime access to your neck, licking at the side, slowly numbing the skin there.
“Darling, may I?”
His voice is low in your ear, but you nod all the same as you swallow back a sound of desperation, not wanting to egg on his teasing anymore. He bites down, grunting as he feeds. It’s a short while before he stops, licking the wound to get the bleeding to stop.
“Sweet as always, my love~”
You lean against him as your body tries to recover, weakened from the feeding. He chuckles, snuggling you up in his lap as you look back at the stars above you. They seem to twinkle even brighter, but your favorite way to look at them is the reflection in his eyes. He presses a kiss to your nose, earning a giggle from you.
“Look darling, they’re flying tonight-”
He raises his arm as a swarm of bats flies around you, screeching and howling. They don’t come near you, surrounding you in a cone before they disperse into the sky. On his finger rests one that decided to land, hanging upside down, looking at you. He throws up his hand as the bat begins to fly off, joining his friends in the sky.
“Fly on, little one. One day we will join you in the sky.”
You look at Mark questioningly, before you feel something in you get stronger. Your tongue brushes against your teeth, feeling sharp fangs instead of your human canines. Your skin paling in the moonlight. Finally, you blink, and the world around you is much brighter. Mark gazes down at you in his lap, brushing your hair out of your face with a mischievous smile.
“Happy anniversary, my baby bat~”
Surely you’ll be able to spend an eternity more with him, up in the sky.
