what are YOUR headcanons on Vampire!Gary, Your Majesty? 😌💖

good morrow m’lady, prithee findeth below my own thoughts on the Vampyre known as Gareth. (these were really hard ngl. fantasy is not my forte, some of these are just downright silly).

To piggy-back off of @ariendiel‘s genius theory that Nan is his maker -- Nan, or Nanthilde if you want to get old-school, met Gary as a child. He was sickly, rail-thin, but smart, too smart for most boys in old Chatham. She watched him slowly grow into a young man, still mocked by peers for his looks, and she knew he deserved better. When Gary was turned, and was given inhuman strength, but the insecurities still ran deep. With no fully present parents, Nan took him under her wing.

Gary’s lack of, ahem, style is also due to the fact that’s gone through so many years of fads and trends. When he reached the 90′s, and grunge fashion was the rage -- flannel, distressed jeans, combat boots -- he has never wanted to update his wardrobe since.

He also actively dyes his hair. His hair mysteriously turned white when he was turned, so he tries to dye it “blonde” as to not look so ghoulish in public. That’s why the colour is... off.

He definitely has a fear of turning someone. He doesn’t want the responsibility of training them or dealing with their constant existential dread. Nan can barely handle taking care of him.

Along those lines, Gary also fell madly in love just once, maybe 300 years ago or so. She worked in a brothel and they had wonderful banter (and a little extra too 😏). She made tea just the way he liked it. He wanted to give her a better life, and thought about turning her. But one day, he discovered she ran off with a nobleman. It’s why he has some trust issues, but sadly can forgive most disloyalties. It’s hard picking a mate for eternity! That’s why he’s ready to settle down at, what? 523?

When he’s feeling a bit blue, he turns into a bat and flies as far as he can go. He doesn’t want other people to see him cry.

He’s a part of a small coven in Chatham with his mates, and they go out at night to party, then prowl the shipyards for wandering, drunks to consume. In the game, when he’s talking about Cheeky V? You know what colour Vimto is? Dark purple/red. It’s slang for blood.

Absolutely has tried every position in the Kamasutra and every single book just like it. 💀

Gary has surprisingly been good at keeping up with technology, and he always helps his coven and Nan to stay in with the times.

The infamous Gary x Lottie kiss was actually more on the lines of Gary wanting her blood, going for her neck, but Lottie mistook it as a kiss. Lottie replayed the moment over and over in her head -- there was something off -- she was onto Gary’s secret. That’s why she was obsessed with him! She wanted him to turn her. The whole “girl-code” thing was a front, hoping it would prove her loyalty for him. (It did not.)

I wish I had more, but my brain is not good at this sort. if anything, I beg you to watch What We Do In The Shadows (series or movie), I think it perfectly captures how I’d see Gary as a modern vampire lol.

JKJKJK 💀💀 again, I cannot take credit for the amazing idea of Vampire!Gary, it’s all inspo from @cranesandshipyards (sorry I keep tagging you, queen). I just seriously love the concept, because it *is* unsuspecting and ooc for typical Gary.
