Story Preview (Era - 1920s):

The door opened quietly and well-oiled to reveal a small, well-organized office, all sensible furniture and immaculate filing. The only thing that threw off the home decorating was the dead man slumped over on the carpet. Of course, all vampires are, in a sense, dead. It comes with the territory. Some vampires, however, are more dead than others.
