he’s all teeth and control - he doesn't hide his nature, but he doesn’t flash it either. he isn’t dramatic about the fangs — doesn’t need to be. you’ll notice them when he wants you to. usually when you’re talking too much and he’s letting you. just watching. lip curled. tongue barely grazing a canine like he’s not really hearing your words — just tasting what they might sound like when you beg.
he sleeps during the day but not like death — like worship. sprawled in torn sheets, skin pale against shadows, gold hair fanned over your pillow. when he wakes, it’s slow — not groggy, just quiet. calculating. and the first thing he always reaches for is you. a thigh. your wrist. the inside of your elbow where the skin is soft and warm and sweet. you say his name. he answers by nosing along your pulse and saying, low, “i had a dream i tore you open.” you say, “how sweet.” his smile cuts lazy and sharp. “wasn’t sweet in the dream.”
you think he doesn’t get affected — he does. he just hides it. especially when you let him feed from your thigh. you offer it like a game. roll your shorts up slowly. drag a finger along the vein and say, "you want this or not?" and he looks calm — measured — until you watch him grip your knee like restraint hurts. when he bites, it’s too gentle at first. like he’s savoring it. until he isn’t. until he’s snarling low and dragging your hips toward him like you’re a chalice.
sometimes, when he’s starving, he avoids you. locks the door. disappears for a night. you find him later, eyes dark and sunken, shirt clinging to him from rain or sweat or blood — you’re not sure whose. he won’t look at you right away. but when you touch him, he finally breaks. pushes you against the wall and murmurs, “told myself i wouldn’t hurt you.” you say, “you haven’t.” he presses his forehead to yours. “you don’t know what i’d do if i really let go.”
