3. my mello lip balm is from a bosnian or serbian (?) brand called mello__skincare on instagram lol my friend is bosian so she gets it for me when she goes to serbia once a year. no new lip balm yet, unfortunately! i haven't ran out though. i depotted one of my mello balms (bc the shell broke since i bring it everywhere) and put it on my keychain!!

i am also really into brown lipsticks since i feel like cool/neutral browns complement my skin tone well and remind me of chocolate ! i was very excited to try mac alone time, and the hype is real... i loved it. the current collection of chocolate browns, cool/nude browns, greys, and blacks that i feel like suits mello's vibe:

6. so... a little bit of ece lore but tldr is there is essentially no difference.

i first started going by 'mellophiliac', and there was only mellophiliac. so most of the accounts i started earlier are under the name mellophiliac. i was a decently sized account on dntwt. in october 2024, a very gruesome case happened in turkey. (i recommend you don't read about it. tw: su*cide, double fem*cide, d*smemberment. if you watch rotten mango, it was the case: teen boy m*tilates 2 girls from turkey. the video was removed bc of guideline violations.) it happened very close to the area i went to school, and it was an incredibly graphic/infamous case.

around this time, outside of my control, my account became a very big international activism account because i started a global hashtag campaign and posted infographics in english. i did it because everyone was asking each other to start one. i didn't think it would even catch on but the tags trended in s. korea and turkey, plus erdoğan addressed the general message of the hashtags, saying no, he wouldn't reenact 6284 (the tag was telling the government to reenact 6284, aka the law corresponding to the istanbul convention, a human rights treaty of the council of europe opposing v*olence against women and domestic v*olence).

before that happened, mellophiliac twt account was literally the mellophiliac you see today, shitposts, jokes, just with a little more politics. so when this happened, i made a second account, keehlophiliac, to not lose contact with my dn mutuals. it lasted a short time though, because i eventually closed both accounts because incel groups started targeting feminist/activist accounts. my friends i went to protests with got d*xxed online and outed to their parents/school, etc. they also started targeting me, and although i didn't gaf that much at first, actual victims started coming to my accounts asking for help. it really, really f'd me up that i couldn't help them because i was literally just a 19 - freshly 20 year old. i found women's organizations/lawyers and connected everyone who was asking for my help to actual women's rights organisations, then i just shut everything down. i didn't use social media for a while, and when i did, i started using keehlophiliac more often in new accounts because mellophiliac was a bit too recognizable when the situation was still new.

so yeah. there is no difference. it's all me baby

7. i started liking mello when i was like 12. it's been a decade now. it was love at first sight. i saw his ugly ass face yelling at roger and knew... he was the one. at first, i thought he was a girl and had a crush on him. then i realized he was a boy and kept having a crush on him. then i denied my bisexuality for 2 more years. then got sent to a weird ass conversion therapy psychologist. didn't work though. i was too woke for that

8. ok so i waited for a very long time to respond to this only because i thought i'd be done with the guy soon and would reply once i got the nendos or a refund. but he didn't bring me my shit, can't make a refund cause he spent the money, asked for more money, changed his pfp to mello and thinks we're in a damn enemies to lovers fanfic LMAOOO i'll hard block once he gives me the figures or my money back

so tips to not end up like me... search for negative reviews first. this was a very large account with 300+ 4.5 or 5 star reviews. i didn't know there were accounts/postings/reviews warning other users about the guy because he selectively fulfilled those orders in exchange for getting the call-out posts taken down. (obv me being from turkey plays a part in this because people genuinely do not have other means of buying these items, turkey has effectively banned personal shopping from overseas. everyone has to buy through someone now to not pay exorbitant fees to the border control. they pay exorbitant fees to guys like this instead lmao)

these things are usually word of mouth and the collector world is pretty small. ask around collectors in your country and where/how/from who they source their items. i learned quite a lot from people i met in cons, fellow artists and crafters who also have to collect/source things from abroad. their recommendations through experience helped me find the sellers i buy from now. a very famous collector here apparently once had a case that she dropped against this guy. if'd known that before, i wouldn't have contacted this person.

but clearly the dude is a character lmao chances are... if a version of this dude exists in your country, there isn't much you can do to avoid him unless you are in the know cause guys like this usually have a reputation.

This is my personal take on what would have happened if Light Yagami never got the Death Note, followed by some explanations to back it up:

Outcome 1: "The ideal and perfect ending"

Light continues to live the way he always did, wearing a mask. Luckily for him, it doesn't affect his mental health as much as it did in the manga. He finds a new purpose in police work and ends up meeting L the same way his dad did. He finally finds someone with whom he can let go of the mask.

Outcome 2: "The most realistic one in my opinion"

Light doesn't find the Death Note; therefore, he has no purpose and remains a shallow shell of a human, thinking that police work or "succeeding" (great paycheck, married to a beautiful and smart woman with kids who are also succeeding) in life will fulfill him. But then he is hit by the realization that nothing (and I mean it) will fill that void, so he ends up either filling it with an addiction something he used to think he would never let himself get that low (I would guess alcohol or self-harm ) and dies miserably. ( keep in mind that the self harming would also be adapted to his character don't think anything too obvious I'm talking about elaborated way to punish himself so that not another person would notice or help)

Outcome 3: "Pretty similar to number 2"

He continues the same pattern, but as the years go by, he realizes that he spent his whole life pretending to be something he isn't and will never truly be himself because deep down he doesn't even know if he is anything other than what everyone expects him to be. At first, he lives with it and believes he just needs to find a passion or something, but then again, after trying almost everything, boredom gets the best of him, and he kills himself. His suicide would have been a pure mystery to anyone close to him, shocking his family and everyone else. I don't believe he would leave a note because even then, I don't think he would find anything tangible to write down.

Okay, so now you might think that this was too much and pretty much OOC, and you might be right, but to me, Light without the Death Note, and most importantly, Light before the Death Note, was depressed. The only thing that stopped him from being as depressed as you may imagine someone with severe depression to "look like" is his ego and also (might be an unpopular opinion, I don't know) his will to please others. Light is somewhat of a people pleaser, not in the way you may think, but all he does and everything he does is a show, a performance to fit into the standards set for him and get that praise from others because he is hungry for admiration and love (not in a romantic way). But I also believe that eventually, after getting all the praise in the world, not a single one will be enough to quiet down the emptiness and sadness he has been hiding from everyone and mostly HIMSELF.

And you could argue that he would've continued his life as he was, faking being human, and you wouldn't be wrong. But I would also argue that Light, no matter how much he tries to gaslight others and himself, is a really emotional person. I find his character to be closer to Mello than Near, for instance. The only difference is him caring about others' opinions and not allowing outbursts. But when you see how easily he folds under pressure or even how quickly he gives in to the madness after having the Death Note, it shows you indirectly how he was actually on the verge of a breakdown before that Death Note came to him.

thinking about soulmates mellodramattic with that one au where they feel the other’s pain when they get injured, with them being more than friends, less than lovers during canon with a whole bunch of unresolved feelings

i imagine the explosion really throws matt off bc it’s some of the worst pain he’s been in even secondhand and also bc mello never actually divulged he was going to blow the headquarters up if he was backed into a corner (imagining he kind of avoided the topic and was like "dw, i have a plan" but never actually Told matt what it was). while mello’s healing, matt goes to him and is like "do not ever pull that shit again." he never explicitly says that he loves him and doesn’t want to see him hurt, but mello’s smart enough — knows matt enough, can see that matt’s more serious than he’s probably ever seen him — to read between the lines and reluctantly agrees to find another solution if something like that has to happen again (cue them never talking about this or their relationship again)

on the flip side, when matt is shot and killed, mello is also blindsided by it. he’s preoccupied with dealing with kiyomi and also weighed the likelihood of her bodyguards taking matt into custody as more likely. the pain is second to only the explosion, and the knowledge that matt is dead is just making it that much worse

this adding another layer to his "matt… i never thought you’d be killed… forgive me/i’m sorry." mello taking responsibility for his death and feeling guilty that he didn’t predict their actions better and prepare matt better for it. but also mello realizing the extent of their bond and what matt experienced after the explosion. him blaming himself for matt’s death and all the pain he experienced after mello recruited him to help catch kira

one of mello’s last thoughts being that he’s a little glad it went down this way, that matt died first so he didn’t have to feel mello’s heart stop…
