For the same meme, can you do SuJu? ;D
Sure can, luv! :3
If I’m a fan or not a fan - Fuck yeeeeeeah
How long I’ve been a fan - Since early 2011, around the time the Taiwan long stay started. I’d discovered them back in September 2009 and had downloaded a couple songs off the Bonamana album the following year, but it wasn’t until Perfection promotions that I really got interested in the group itself and wanted to learn more about them.
The first song I heard by them - Super Girl
My favourite song as of now - Still a tie between “It’s You” and “A Man in Love,” although for something slower and softer I really like “A Day,” from the Mr. Simple repackage. And I like all of M’s title tracks and reeeally like “Strong” and “My Love for You” and “In My Arms”
The first MV I saw - Again, Super Girl. It was one of the first K-pop related videos I’d ever seen, too; the VERY first was “Abracadabra”
My favourite MV as of now - Either Swing or It’s You
Who my bias is - The little space case whose face is plastered all over my blog <3
Who my least favourite member is - … Are we counting Kibum as a member or not? If yes, he’s tied with Shindong for last. If not, just Shindong
My OTP - OH MY GOD QMI. Like, I love watching and trying to understand Kyu’s relationships with all his bandmates, but there’s something about QMi that really catches my fancy and I could wax on and on trying to explain it but I’ma just leave it at THEY’RE REALLY FUCKING CUTE
A pairing I dislike - Kyumin. Lawd, frickin’ Kyumin. It is one of my few absolute NoTPs, and that honestly has very little to do with the ship itself. Based on Kyu and Ming’s real-life behavior and interactions, any romance between them seems highly likely to me, but I can sorta see how it could work in an opposites-attracted sort of way. But I get so fucking frustrated with the fans who flood the tags with edits that try so hard to ignore all evidence that Kyu and Ming, y’know, interact with other people, not just each other? And I’ve seen a lot of piss-poorly written Kyumin fic with really problematic or just plain god-awful characterization and plot devices. Which is something that can also be said of a lot of Wonkyu fic, tbh. And fic in general, but it seems worst with those two ships for heaven knows what reason. And then there’s the issue of shippers getting snarky about Zhou Mi supposedly wrecking their ship. -____-
And lastly, an unpopular opinion - *cracks knuckles* A’ight, here we go: (1) I don’t doubt Leeteuk’s devotion to the group one bit, don’t doubt he’s made sacrifices. But I’m not quite willing to praise him as the best leader in K-pop, because I also get the impression that he can still be very self-centered and petty. And I have a hard time believing a single word he says, because he craves attention and is such an enabler, so invested in pleasing and appeasing the fans, I think he’d say anything to do so. His relationship with the fans is… well, not a healthy one, I think. (2) I’m most distinctly not happy about Eunhyuk’s constant spotlight-stealing in SJM. SJM is still Zhou Mi’s one major opportunity to really shine, but instead Zhou Mi keeps getting relegated to translating the boring stuff while Hyuk constantly interjects and draws the camera to him, rarely uttering a single word in Mandarin. I ain’t here for that. (3) I think Kyuhyun is the best vocalist in the group, not Yesung, and that the whole reasoning of “well, he has a pretty voice and good techniquie but no emotion!” is a stinking pile of bullshit. Now, I ain’t questioning that Yesung is the king of melodramatic, melancholy ballads. But there’s only so much of that I can take. (4) Donghae should not be considered a main vocalist. Kangin is better than him. Fuck, when Heechul actually tries, Heechul is better than him. Donghae has ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE BREATH SUPPORT and therefore can’t hold a pitch or finish his phrases. Love him to fucking bits, but lawd, Fishy, c’mon, you’ve had years to improve! (5) I really don’t get the obsession with the number 13, and I don’t just say this because I adore Henry and Zhou Mi. I also say it because what the official 13 had was not the close brotherhood we see today. They had vastly different goals and skill sets and ideas about the group, and they probably clashed with each other a lot behind the scenes over uneven pay, selfish decisions, miscommunications and the like. In fact, I think Han Geng leaving actually needed to happen for the group to get as close as they are now. As upsetting as it was, it was also a wake-up call to them, a lesson in the importance of communication and paying attention to each other’s opinions and concerns. Cuz if they had been paying attention, and if Geng had been completely honest with them, they probably wouldn’t have been so blind-sided by or upset about Geng leaving, if Geng had chosen to leave at all in that situation. (6) I will not vote for every obscure, ultimately inconsequential award for which SuJu is nominated. I’ll buy their albums, I’ll tell people about them, I’ll go to a fucking concert if they EVER GET THEIR ASSES OVER HERE. But they don’t need to win everything. They’ve already had enviable careers, and at this point, I’m just happy they’re still together and making music and being adorable idiotic nutjobs. ELF have got to stop trying so hard to prove SuJu’s relevance. Let the bandwagon haters talk shit. They might’ve never even heard of their faves if SuJu hadn’t helped bring K-pop to a global audience.
