It was a good thing he closed his eyes or he would have seen the disappointment in her eyes. Her tone hadn’t been humorous, but deadpan in the way that she would usually say something. And god it had been so long since she had actually pursued something or someone she wanted just because she wanted them. “Um...I wasn’t joking.”
She pressed her lips together, then glanced away. Was it bad that she wanted the rest of what her life would be to be with him? In some sense, it probably was, but she didn’t care. Was it really so unthinkable? She reached out to hold his hand for a minute, catching the little furrow between his brows that gave him away so easily. She rubbed her thumb over his, then started to pull away, “Any preference for what we have for dinner?”
Anything to keep her from thinking about him laughing at the thought of running away from her.

Rebekah shouldn’t have been out on her own but she’d seen Kol wonder off. He was much more fun than helping some of the younger children learn to braid hair. Was that really what fun was to these girls Sliding away Rebekah went unnoticed and followed Kol. Hiding behind tree’s and bushes when he nearly caught her every time she stepped on a twig or leaf. If only the ground could be quieter. Once he’d stopped she crouched down behind a large oak tree watching. Rebekah could not believe what was before her eyes. Her brother was practicing magic. It looked like something mother would disapprove of and father would loath. Yet she watched until she couldn’t keep her presence hidden. Stepping out she walked towards him. “Mother will not like this, Kol.” A mischievous grin covered her face. She wanted something in return for keeping her mouth shut.
