He tried to remember. His thoughts were sluggish, molasses dripping down his throbbing brain. They'd been together, maybe, or he'd been alone, somewhere dark. Somewhere unsafe. Somewhere he wasn't meant to be. He'd been surrounded by pain, by teeth, by merciless eyes and cloying hands and — "Look at me." The command cut through the fog, reverberating quietly around Eddie's ears, and he snapped to attention. He looked at Lena. She held her arm out to him, wrist up. Dark blood bloomed there, rich and fragrant, from a jagged gash below her palm. "Drink."
